well, the URD maf cal changes the signal from the maf sensor to the ecu. When you add intake and exhaust mods, you can modify the factory set air/fuel mixture and fine tune it everytime you add more. It can be complicated but if you read U-Tune by Gadget from URD, you can learn to lean it out a little, so you can maximize more air (cai and headers, catback). Factory setting is always rich to minimalize engine damage at wide open throttle, so when you floor it, the engine is choked with gas=poor mpg. The trick is to trim it out so it is leaner (12to1) air/fuel mixture at WOT. When I bought mine, Gadget loaded a modified map to maximize intake with some exhaust (mod map: urd cai and urd y-pipe). I got a mechanic friend of mine to check my A/F mix and fool around with the computer program it comes with and he was a little shocked that it only cost 250.00. He confirmed that mod. map was pretty much right on, but had to play with some fuel trims to see if it would change. Check out their website. urdusa.com There are a few other tuning devices out there, and you need a wideband display to tune it. (thats where mechanic friends come in handy). To me, this is a must to maximize all engine mods:D
