Rear Frame tweak after wife strikes a light pole on the rear - crappy repair work

My wife backed into a two foot round two foot tall parking lot light mount.

She hit right on the drivers side frame rail in the rear. Since her orthodic boot was not supposed to be worn in the car, the boot got stuck on the gas and the brake. Needless to say she nailed the cement post.

I had an alignment done and it showed rear frame displacement by .3 on driver rear and -.21 on the passenger rear.

The body shop I took the it to for repairs stated they did a minor frame pull. When I inquired further as to what that entailed they advised they tied down the car and used a strap tied around the rear axle. From What I'm now told, all this did was bend my leaf springs and not the frame. Does this sound right?

I'm about to upgrade my suspension including my leaf springs. I have a feeling I'm going to have to find someone to do a light frame pull all over again. I also noticed all the parts that where supposed to be new were just heated and banged back into place. I'm not real happy.

 

You need to find a reputable shop to undo the damage those clowns at the first shop did...

 

I took it to a shop called Mascar in Costa Mesa. They do a lot of work for the Overhaulin show. Plus they have a good rep.

Looks like the old shop just pulled my leaf spring out to align the rear thrust angle. I have to wait a week to get my truck on the frame machine. Based on the old machine shops old computer print out = frame machine the Frame needed to be tugged not the leaf spring. I'll know for sure when the truck is on the new rack.

He discovered the left hitch support was heated and 80% bent back into shape even though I was charged for it which is why my "new" bumper looks off. The support bar in the bumper wasn't replaced. The plastic pieces cut during the initial impact weren't replaced just behind the rear bumper. Bed bolts aren't torqued which is why I hear a loud thump sound going over bumps.

I'm not dealing with insurance this time. I just want it fixed. It's paid for.

 

Do not let wife drive truck, x2 if injured.

 

No doubt!!! She feels pretty bad about it.

 

They may be a shop with a good reputation and I am not a mechanic but attempting to pull a tweaked frame by the rear axle seems downright stupid. I've pulled the frame on an ATV before and we hooked directly to the member we were trying to straighten, not pulling from something else. Seems like a way to cut corners in my opinion...
