Since the front flaps a a little shorter than the rear, I'm wondering if the front flaps will mount to the rear fender. I like these, I just don't like that they re-introduce the same issue of being stiff and hanging way too low to the ground.

Doesn't look any different from the ones that came with the truck. Even if they're thicker, it won't make a difference.

I think people were looking for shorter flaps, especially for the front tires, that didn't require trimming/cutting; or for people that lost flaps and wanted cheaper replacements for the OEM ones ($75/each?!). Options are good!

A few years ago, I got a set of all 4 OEM flaps on eBay for $100, still have two of them left unused. I could get these and sell the other ones and be square...but man, give us a little flex or at least a strategic flex point.

Keep us posted on a group buy....

How do these compare to the Pro-Fits? The Pro-Fits are a supple/softer plastic. These are about $30 at PepBoys. #6 6416 or #7 6417.

Four inches shorter than OEM front flaps is about right to provide enough splash protection. If any shorter, then you may as well not have any flaps at all.

These are the 2 brands I'm considering.

    Thinkingman.

What size tires are you running? Your tires look like 285/16s? If yes and no rubbing? That's great. My 265/R70/17s should be fine then.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
Those aren't pics of my truck.
    I run Michelin LTX AT2's.....265/70/17.
    Perfect size, really.

    Love the new flaps.
I had Pro-Fits and they were OK...you kinda had to squish them against the fender to look anything like custom and they had a funky angle that made the inside of the flap closer to the tire than the outside....plus you have to drill to install.
These are cleaner and easier all around.
Lifetime warranty if you think the plastic is too stiff.
I had a long talk with Husky and am pretty convinced they chose the material wisely.

On Amazon it says they don't fit 2011s. Maybe their data bases aren't updated but it should fit if they're 2005+. Anyone know for sure. These have good reviews and are same price as the current Husky's GP price

You could disquise your truck as a pre-runner.:p

These look decent, I'm confident I'll have reason to order some in the future. I just installed a pair of OEM flaps on the front trimmed 4.5" that will outlast the full length OEM's, but still expect to have issues. This is good news, and a reasonable price helps out for sure! Thanks!

    Totally agree.

I left my mud flaps on when I lifted my truck 3" two years ago. Since I was running 265/75 16 and TRD alloys, there was no pressing need to remove them (i.e. no rub). With the local rain we get here, offroading, sanded roads on mountain trips and occasional snow, I was reluctant to remove them anyway. Two years later and there is a distinct wear band on the bottom of the rear fenders and flares right before the wheel opening. Surprise surprise, it's roughly 3" of new little chips from road debris. :D In other words, if you modify how much of the front wheel you expose, you're going to change the amount of material that gets sprayed back towards the rest of the truck while driving. Of course, it probably depends on what you're driving through that makes a big difference too. The OEM flaps, though arguably inadequate, defective, hideous, whatever you feel about them...were designed with a long length to keep the paint pretty. ~4" shorter on these Husky flaps looks good and will still work to keep a lot of water and road grime off the truck. Certainly better than nothing, at least IMHO!

If you are in a situation where you are worried about ripping the flaps off or some other damage, they are quite easy to remove. No more broken clips either.

The tires in the pics are 265/75 16. Due to the way that my current lift and wheels are, I got some minor rub with the stock flaps. There is no rub with the Huskys, but it's a close fit. As with any fitment issues, YMMV. 265/70 17 should be just fine! I wouldn't hold my breath for 285/75s and no rub, though.

Though they're rigid, I'm going to give these new flaps some abuse to see what they can take. I'm positive they'll do better than OEM for most people who run mud flaps on their Tacomas.

I agree with thinkingman on this topic. I like these flaps, and at the full price I paid, I'd buy them again! Get in on the discounted group buy price!

I trimmed my stock ones, they work even though they are broken. Less protection but seeing as how stock length ones ruined the bottom 5" of my passenger side front flare and dug into the plastic on all four, they weren't doing me any good. The passenger flare itself is dented and the paint is spider webbed from coming down on a speed bump at parking lot speeds.

My truck isn't a street queen plus its silver so you only notice if I point it out, Just a stupid design. I have the stock flaps from my 83 SR5, probably just re-use them on my Tacoma, the mounting is pretty much the same  they were bolted on back then though instead of these stupid plastic clips. Apparently they are rare because everyone tossed them out back then too.

My opinion on the Husky ones, Well the material is wrong, I would buy them if they were softer. I want them to be able to fold completely backwards if they are hung up on something (even just snow), without snapping, digging into the body like the stock ones did etc..

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
After reading this I think I am just gonna take the front ones off at least! Damn! I like the rear ones though because of the 4x4 logo there, may just shorten them up a bit. To get them off are they just attached to the flares by a clip or something? Dont wanna damage anything trying to get them off, glad my truck is silver too because it is hard to notice things on it, even when it is somewhat dirty it looks clean still.

Silver is epic. Ive only ever owned black/dark blue vehicles before.

I trimmed a ton off, reshaped them on my belt sander, just used the cut pieces as templates. The clips are pretty self explanatory, they are a phillips screw, plastic and annoying. Some probably wont come apart and some may break. Im probably just going to replace them all with rivets since half of mine broke and they seem loose after re-using.

That said, I want to make soft ones from my 83 work. Should be simple.

Sweet! I'm going to look for some locally first (because I want them NOW) but I'll be ordering through the group buy if I can't find them.

Glasstite canopy, afe pro dry A/F, added rear speakers, DeeZee bed mat.
Anyone put these on a 2007 standard cab 2wd? I e-mailed Husky and they said they would work if I had the factory Fender flairs ?? I'm not sure what Husky means, there are no add on flairs, but the fenders do look flaired.

    thx, Tacotrac

The flaps in question are designed to fit the 4x4 and Prerunner (6-lug) models with the plastic flares attached to the sheet metal fenders. If you have a 5-lug these flaps won't fit.
