The line is a vent for the locker motor.

Hey jandrews why would an electric motor need a vent? why is it encased in the wiring harness?

Thanks Blackdawg I see it now

Motor could be sealed to prevent damage from water. It still needs air tho to help cool and other such things. Prolly like a diff breather..

I cant imagine that little line allowing enough air for cooling. I imagine it's just a vent to release water vapor ad it dries

Exaclty. It's just a breather. Mount it up by your frame where the two electrical plugs go.

Would the fact that this new axle has abs be a problem since my truck doesn't have abs? Can I just use it without hooking up the abs sensors?

Or better yet can I retrofit abs into my truck(at least in the rear) possibly by getting a computer from a truck with abs? Would I need the abs light in the cluster? Or could I go without it?

Don't bother with the ABS. Leave the sensor in to plug the hole otherwise you'll get a bunch of shit in the axle housing.

Cool that's what I was figuring I'd do. I just inspected the brakes and it all looks good, nice smooth rotor an all the springs are strong and the actuator isn't leaking. Gonna just put new pads on it and put it back together. Than I'm gonna do a gear fluid flush through cheese cloth to get an idea of the condition of the gears. Any recommendations of gear fluid to service with after?

63b61270-147a-6ae6_c8fe583586117a0fa2cafda1244abc441e979eda.jpgso to update this thread i finally got a chance to swap my axle this weekend with the new locking trd axle. and i have to say im in love with my truck all over again! its like my girl just got her hair did! lol the locker works great, i bench tested it with 3v and it locked up nicely and unlocks just as nice. now im just waiting on my harness from 12voltguy.com to wire it up and take it out into the dessert hills behind my house.

oh and i also removed my 1" AAL and the rear end is so much smoother and i like the stance much better
