Go to Radio Shack or Fry's. They have a bunch of different adapters and you could be back in business a.s.a.p.

Now I am being told by some of the members here that the wheels may be too wide. But the guy looked them up and said they don't make them any smaller (in his book) so I might have to change wheels too. Kind of a bummer. I like those wheels. Took me forever to decide.

Well, not to be a dick about it but....

Find yourself a 17x8 with 4.5" backspacing, or a 17x8.5 with 5 inches of backspacing (you're shooting for a +6mm offset) and your tires will have a much better chance of fitting.

I hear ya. You're not being a dick. I do appreciate the help. Thank you. :)

I was not meaning to get the set up until after the holidays but what happened was, my husband got a last minute offer to go to Hawaii for Thanksgiving. I gave him the money I was saving up for the wheels so he can go....and before he left, I got a call saying that the wheels/tires I ordered were in.

???? I didnt order tires and wheels!

He had surprised me and ordered the ones he knew I was looking at.

Even the application guide in the computer at the shop said that it would fit, he even showed me. BUT: Toyota recommends a smaller size tire. Also: The tires are indeed approved for 9 inch wheels. I'm all confuzzled.

Now in a thread I started, a couple of the guys say my truck is low in the front and that perhaps something was done (?) to it.

Looks like I have to get a different wheel.

Moose, you are awesome, thanks for the links!! I was trying to order those exact Dick Cepeks. I don't do internet shopping but I wanted them so badly I was going to find a way. They had three wheels to ship and the fourth would be on back order with a possible ship date of after 6 months, IF they can get them. I didn't want to risk it so I declined. A lot of the wheel shops in my area get the wheels from there so it was the same story all around.

My next thing would probably be the Moto Metals, the one everyone has. *sigh* I need something with a silver color in the wheel to break up the black since I have black fenders.

    Couple more:

Anyhow, there's way more. The way I find these is

    go to a wheel site

filter on 17" wheels, 6 on 5x5" bolt pattern, wheel width of 8 or 8.5, then sort by backspacing.

(4 wheel parts won't filter by width - you just have to slog through)

Thank you so much!! I'll check into these, I like the first one! I'll have to find out about how to go about returning them and see if there's some sort of restocking fee or if they would just let me change my mind. Since they rub it's a legit reason.....

    question for any LEO:

Is it legal (I guess anything the cops do is "legal") to put tinted windows on a regular cop cruiser? (in california) haha seemed strange, but today me and a friend saw a regular cruiser that was sitting near a common speeding trap with probablly 35% tinted windows. Front and rear.
    :notsure:

I've seen the tinted windows on a bunch of "undercover" cars. Of course, a Crown Vic with tinted windows isn't exactly undercover...

My friend owns a tint shop and when I was there chatting with him, he was just finishing off a government vehicle. He said that govt vehicles and others of such ARE allowed to have tinted front windows. The car in question was getting limo tint.

They don't have to comply with all vehicle equipment laws. Not sure if this is still the case, but in the 80's, the law enforcement vehicles didn't have any smog equipment. As a kid, I worked at a paint and body shop that had the contract to paint all the CHP vehicles that were being retired and auctioned. Those didn't have any of the smog equipment and anyone buying them via the auction were exempt from smog checks too (since they didn't have any smog equipment).

It was kind of fun driving those mustangs back in the 80's and watching people just move over when I came along behind them (we picked up, painted, then drove them back to the auction yard). It's not like you can see the "out of service" signs in the rear side windows when one comes up behind you.
