So my truck originally came with a 6 disc changer, A51810, however I wanted satellite radio, so I ended up purchasing a radio out of a 2010, AD1808, a single disc unit, but it does mp3's and has the sat button. Now the one problem I found is that the volume seems dramatically reduced, in fact when I did get the satellite radio working I can turn it to max and it's still not very loud. Could this have to do with the ASL wire not on my 2006 Harness? The original factory unit, had tons of power. Looking at the old changer there actually is a plug that the satellite radio plugs into, but I can't seem to make it switch to it, now believe I read somewhere that you can push the AM or DISC button a second time, and it will go to the sat, but this doesn't seem to work. Or does this only work for those Ipod adapters? Has anyone gotten the 6disc changer to receive sat signal? Is there a secret way to switch the mode that I am missing or is this radio incapable of getting sat radio all together? Also why would the radio out of the 2010 have such low volume, it is a non-JBL, standard issue radio.

op..... I have a 2011 with xm and i have the same complaint about the satilite volume level. The reg. radio volume is good but when you switch to satilite radio I can't hear it barely with the windows open it is annoying.......... does anyone else have this problem and if so have you been able to change the volume level?

Non JBL needs a SAT receiver.
Your comment is a little confusing.
You say-when I did get the satellite radio working I can turn it to max and it's still not very loud
Then you said-is this radio incapable of getting sat radio all together.

    A couple of questions:
So do you have the receiver?
did you add a SAT antenna?

Well to try and make it less confusing, I purchased a radio out of a 2010, since it has a sat button, where as my original one does not. The new radio had volume issues and it bothered me so much that I put the old radio back in...I assume it is due to the AVL speed sensor wire missing from the radio harness, since my 2006 never had it, and the 2010 did.
Now the original radio has the same connector for the Toyota Sat Radio tuner (TOY-SC1) But when I press the AM radio button a second time it does pull one satellite radio station, which I think is the promo station, however I am unable to change it to anything else...

With the new radio I had low volume across the board, nothing was loud. With the original radio, anything over 30 is plenty loud

    So to answer your questions...
I have a SCC1 sirius satellite receiver ( in dash ) mated to a TOY-SC1 Satellite interface module, and I ran a satellite antenna through the cab and out the high mount brake light to the roof

Since you get the promo station, you can call XM/Sirius and ask them for a 30 day trial to see if you like it. Dont give them your credit card, they will start billing you at regular pricing after the 30 day trial. If you like it, then call and ask them for the 5 month deal or 1 year deal. Do a search to see what current pricing is. They might offer you the lifetime subscription for 450.00.
