I converted my 2011 Cannondale Synapse form a 3x9 to a 1x9 does that count?

My stock rear cassette is 12-26. My middle ring was a 39. I swapped it out for a 42 and I'm using a 42 (max) size Spot chainring guard. Love not having that front derailer chain rub bs.

I'm going to eventually try to swap the rear cassette out for more of a MTN bike setup and go 12-32. This would give me the same low gears as stock but will only loose a little off the top end which is already more than I need or use. I suppose I will have to use a MTN bike derailer due to the large rear cogs.

I'm thinking I will have them go 12,14,16,18,20,22,25,28,32. I know it's ideal to have some of those only skip by one but I figure either pedal faster or slow down to get a good caidence.

I tried wraping it in img tags, but that didn't work. I don't know why.

Castle Craig is 924 feet above sea level. What a fun climb.

Just picked this one up last weekend. The seat is getting upgraded very soon. There's quite a few older bikes on here, has anybody tried racing them? I want to get into racing this spring, just wondering if it's worth upgrading or if I should be looking for a newer bike.

Umm I'm thinking buy an all new bike for racing. I haven't seen those dual brake levers since the mid 80's and they were kinda outdated then.

Yea if I do upgrade it, it'll probably just be new brake levers, bar end shifters, and clipless pedals. I rode 33 miles averaging 20mph in a pace line today. Since that picture I put a new seat on and dropped the handlebars.

Has anybody ever checked out bikesdirect.com? They seem like really good deals; I'm just unfamiliar with the brands and their quality.

I've been buying all my bike stuff from Jensen USA, unless I pick up something local. They really have their stuff together over there.

Those are perfect, might need some TLC but for that cheap they're great for a project
