Door unlock chirping noise??

Hey guys,

I have a 2011 base tacoma, so I don't have keyless entry... But I have power locks. So today I stuck my key in the drivers door and unlocked the doors, but to make sure they were unlocked I turned the key a couple more times.

Well on of the the extra turns I heard a chirp coming from the door, then I kept doing it and heard the chirp and couple more times, but now I can't get it to chirp again.

Any idea what this could be? Only happened when unlocking not locking.

 

Might just be the motor. Mine make the noise occasionally, have for awhile.

If it breaks, it breaks, nothing to do until then but id imagine you're fne

 

Yeah, well it's under warranty so if there is something wrong they should probably replace it.

I went out and tried it again, after sitting for about 20 minutes it did it again. on the first try this time, and it did it twice in a row then stopped.

 

I went to the dealer on my lunch break, took a whole hour before it made the noise, but he heard it. He says it's the actuator, and they will replace it tomorrow. Hopefully it's as simple as that.

 

since you have power locks, cant you program a keyless remote?

 

Maybe? I never thought about that, but I'm not sure how that'd work
