Nope. DOA. Shut down the highway going southbound. Just north of that there was 3-4 cruisers blocking off the road funneling people to the nearest off ramp, and the on ramps all had cruisers blocking those as well.

I'd like to mention I drove that section of road 30 minutes prior to that happening. It was fine and I was in 2wd doing the speed limit.

Stay safe out there. Not everyone is paying attention.

My guess is they will put a guardrail in to prevent this from happening again.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Man that sucks what is the speed limit on that road is looks like a pretty fast hit. My brothers friends hit a pole just like that and the outcome looked the same. they were doing 90+

That sucks but I'd say that it was the sideways impact that got him and probably broke his neck killing him instantly.

The whole break-away sheared bolt system doesn't work too well when the top of your car is equal to the height of the concrete base, thats a shame.

Also going to acknowledge how freaking awesome the police winebago is!

I was driving on the highway near my house, and I saw what was left of a car the was split nearly completely in half after an impact with a tree. Found out later that the driver was killed in the wreck. He must have been going nearly 90 mph and never hit the brakes, didn't see any skid marks on the pavement.

x2 at least I hope that is what happened. Wouldn't surprise me either if his head smashed the post.

I saw a similar accident like this when a wall was being put up on the side of the highway to keep the sound down. They had the steel pillars all placed but the actual wall sections hadn't been placed in this particular area. One day some kid was racing his friend and lost control and hit on of the pillars with the drivers side of his car. half the car was on one side of the pillar, the other half wrapped clean around with the front bumper almost touching the rear. It was a pretty nasty scene to say the least.

This strip of highway is notorious for fatal accidents for some reason. a few days ago we had a truck change lanes, clip someone, and flip 4 times killing both driver and passenger. Last summer we had a lady under the influence drive up the wrong ramp and go into oncoming traffic and kill herself and a mom that had her 2 daughters in the van.

Drive safe ladies and gentlemen and tell your loved ones you love them each day before you leave because you never know if you will come back or not.

Only the good officers get to go.

Yeah, all that was in the paper today was that it was a 21y/o male driver.
