stupid deer wrecked my Taco

I crashed into a deer on the way to work....
I was going about 60 and she did not fare so good......

neither did the deer.....ouchee

the truck only had 7000 miles on it....

I guess the only plus is that I had scratched my front bumper so I dont need to get it repainted.....expensive fix huh...thank God for insurance...

 

Ouch! I'll tell you what, I think the truck came out pretty well for hitting a deer at highway speeds. Another vehilce, and things could have been very different. Glad you're okay. Good luck with the repairs.

they said it would be around 11000 bucks to fix....
part of that was the belts and bag....which performed awesomely i must add....first and hopefully last time eating an airbag

 

Ouch man, that sucks! Luckily you were not hurt.

FWIW, my wife hit a deer about five years ago and it did a lot more damage than that!

 

You should look into getting an aftermarket bumper. They look great and should hold up better to hitting a deer.

Hitting a deer is covered by your comprehensive insurance...which means your rate does not go up. They call it an "act of nature" (like a hail storm). That is some serious damage though!!! Deployed airbags are VERY expensive.

2 months ago, I hit a deer doing 60mph in my 2004 Taco. It had the chrome bumper and the deer did very little damage. I got out thinking the entire front would be smashed in but there was only a small dent in the bumper. Insurance paid me $500 and I never got it fixed - then traded the truck in and kept my money. I don't think the bumper on my 09 will fair so well and it doesn't appear yours did either!

May of 2006 I hit a deer going about 50mph, on my motorcycle! The deer jumped just before I hit him and he hit the upper forks and handlebars before hitting me and knocking me off the bike. I was lucky, very lucky. There wasn't any traffic in the oncoming lane where I landed about 50 feet down the road and I walked away with a sprained ankle only because I wear every ounce of protection I can. I wear a full-face helmet, armored gloves, armored riding pants, and an armored motorcycle jacket. All my gear was trashed and it cost $4k to cover all the damage to a bike that only cost $10k new. There's lots of deer where I live and hitting deer is pretty common around here. In fact, last year a woman hit a buck right in front of my house. I feel your pain, literally!

 

Well As least you could have some stew for dinner. Looks to be enough in your bumper for some snacks.

Holy bejebus, that deer is probably worse then the truck though. Maybe you can talk the repair place into replacing the bumper with an aftermarket one.. I am sure they are about the same price lol

dont feel bad..ive hit 2 in my 96..insurance covered both.

Nothing nearly as bad as yours, as both of mine didnt add up to 11K i think
