    well yeah,

    other people who might have this problem in the future and then visit this topic trying to find answers will read....that while trying to get out of 4L you should wait a couple of seconds after turning the knob from 4L to 4H just to make sure it's out of 4L. can't be any simpler then that.

    I switched from 4l to 4h yesterday without problem, I just didn't let the truck switch in neutral long enough. Thanks for the help I feel better now and not so worried that something was wrong with the 4x4 system.

    like the one time i drove roughly 45 miles home while in 4wd on the freeway averaging 75+ mph. made it all the way to a starbucks parking lot, felt the front end binding while i was turning sharply to pull into a parking spot :p
