Heheh. It's not that bad. I give her a hard time but she's not really that dingy.

Heheh, I said "that." That'll earn me a smack. Ouch.

Honestly, I don't know what I'd do without her. Probably starve, be bored, and spend a lot of money getting my bikes fixed. I'm pretty lucky. How many guys get to live with a woman who can cook (really well), is a bicycle mechanic, has done an Ironman, climbed Kilimanjaro with me, and doesn't even blink when asked if she wants to sign up for a 12-hour mountain bike race?

I put a lot of thought into trying to find her a vehicle that would work with her hobbies and serve as a reasonable daily driver. The Tacoma in the 4WD, crewcab, LWB format fits the bill. Requirements:
    1. Carries her to bike shop and back safely, so I don't have to look for another woman if she gets in a wreck (i.e. side airbags, good crash ratings)
    2. Carries her snotty brat and his smelly buddies to school, and back and forth to skate park (i.e. crew cab)
    3. Carries bikes and kayak gear (6-foot pickup bed that will accept bed cap for bikes and gear, and long roof line for 17+ feet sea kayaks)
    4. Reasonably easy to get around and park (she didn't like the Tundra, too big)
    5. 4x4. (No offroading planned, but need 4WD to get in an out of muddy fields and clearance to get over the occasional curb when parking for events and races)
    6. Available in green and has a cute little snout.

I did try to talk her out of that hood scoop, though. Honestly. I think that thing is just... ridiculous. But she loves it, so whatever makes her happy.

Same for the rest of you out there, whatever rings your bell. Don't get all bent out of shape just because I made fun of your "skewp," dudes. Seriously. I'm probably just some cranky old fart that doesn't know what's cool anymore. I wear sports coats to work and I have someone else do my taxes, if that's any clue.

I'll do a writeup later this year on some of the mild "mods" we have planned. We'll be installing Thule tracks into the roof sheet metal, putting her Hullivators on it, and getting a Snugtop HiLiner and bedrug to protect the small fortune we have invested in carbon fiber bike frames.

Thanks for the welcomes and to all the posters for the useful info on these forums.

Peace out, yo, or whatever you hip scoop drivers say to each other.

Welcome. That front tire looks a little low and I hope you cleaned all that tire shine crap off the tires before you drove it anywhere.

Good choice on the Tacoma! I am on my 2nd one and love it to death! Even though as some haters here will say that I have a "poser" edition Prerunner TRD Off Road, it does all I need it to do. Why spend the extra money on 4x4 when my Taco is 98% of the time on pavement and 98% of the time is used as my work truck hauling building materials/supplies?

Welcome to TW and don't be sad you got her hood skewp! Its a trade secret but the hood skewp edition ads 10whp!

Yeah; but the skewp only adds 10whp to the wheel with the least traction.

To the OP; welcome to the TW and it sounds like you have a heck of a woman there.

The frog has been on any adventures with me, up Kilimanjaro, across a few states and on a few bike rides! It's only fitting that he rides in The Snout for the first ride home!

Thanks for the welcomes! It has been fun lurking until the final purchase.

Heheh. She went to see her Dad for Christmas and this happened.

Looks like that bird has the same opinion about the hood scoop as I do. Heheh.
