So I put my beloved 97 on Craiglist, not thirty minutes later I guy called and basically begged me for it. I sold it for 6k. The next day I went to Toyota and bought a new 2012 standard cab Tacoma, 4x4, 5 speed. It's pretty much plain jane....just the way I wanted it. And also because I'm 19 and can't afford much more than that right now LOL. I love the truck though. I drove it to Snowshoe the day I bought it and I just got home. It did great in the very recent snow WV is getting. Hopefully I can post some pictures soon. A couple questions though...

How do you guys feel about the 0w20 synthetic oil they started putting in these trucks and the 5000 mile interval oil change? I'm not sure how I feel about it being a religious 3000 mile oil changer myself.

Another question, I've noticed the higher end 2012's have those sweet fog lights in the bottom of the bumper lol. Mine didn't come with them. Has anyone on here installed them on their truck?

I use the Mobil 1 oil w0/20 and have been real happy with it! I think I get the best of mileage with it!!! As for fog lites mine was not wired for them at all! I ended getting some from Dash Z racing products..about $135.00..came with every thing needed, switch looks great too! Fits right in the dash looks factory! Lights work great too!!!

Yeah Dude, I got a 2011 reg cab 4x4 with auto....love it. I was really concerned about the oil change interval (5000 mi) and I have already did the initial oil change at 870 mi. (myself). Currently I have 3200 mi and truck is 5 months old. So, I'll do the free dealer thingy pretty soon but after that, IDK. I like the synthetic oil of course, but not the 5000 mi interval. And I do like the free service, so, I'll just see how it goes.

It has been common for people who didnt have the fogs preinstalled from the factory on their pre 2012 to install them on their own. The wires were installed from the factory. You can find them taped inside the bumper near the blanks. You need to purchase the lenses with bulbs, the dash switch, and the relay that's installed under the hood. However, I haven't seen this mod yet for a 2012. The lenses and bulbs appear to be different and not sure if you can find aftermarkets on EBay or not but the relay and switch might be the same. Just do a search for fog lights or something like that here on TW and search EBay.

    Cheers.

I replaced my fog lights with smoked lights. The kit came with all the wires, all i used was the lights. Put oem lights back in the kit. You are welcome to the kit if you want it.

Now have just over 1K miles on my new Double Cab TRD 4x4. I have semi retired my 2000 Nissan Frontier SE Xtra Cab 4x4 at 216K miles and still running great.
However the 'fog lamps' on the Nissan are a joke, and these fog burners on the 2012 Tacoma are GREAT!
I don't know what the intented use was for the 2000 Frontier but it sure wasn't to light up any road or side road on the Nissan!

Loving my 2012 EXCEPT for ONE THING, getting IN and OUT of the driver's seat takes some body twisting! It's the ONE THING that makes me think I might should have purchased the TUNDRA CREWMAX!!!!!

I can't seem to get over the front grill. It hasn't grown on me yet. And when I'm driving at night and I flip the rearview mirror only half of it is tinted. I'm not sure why that is but I don't like it lol.
