I just bought an '09 black regular cab 4x4 and a Extang clamp on tonneau. Has anyone installed one of these or similar? Reading the instructions it says to cut notches in a "bed liner" to install the clamps. I'm not cutting any holes in my new truck! I have'nt taken the clamps out of the package yet in case it has to go back. It might be possible to clamp it to the stock tie down rails on the truck? I'll do a test fit tomarrow but would like to know it is going to work before starting. Thanks for any help

I think they might be talking about the "drop in" liners. Not the composite bed..

Hey bud I just installed an extang on my 07 and you don't have to cut anything. There are three clamps on each side. The part with the orange bushing slips inside the Tacoma factory rail then the uppers bold right into them. What you want to look for is the upper clamps, there are two that are shorter than the other four and those go at the rear. If you need me to snap some pics of mine I will so let me know. Mostly those are generic instructions so that's why they are saying you might have to cut.

Thanks, it looks like it should work. I didn't have a picture of how the clamps fit the rails and at first glance I had doughts. So how long have you been running yours? And do you like it? I've never had a tonneau before. The '95 had a full topper on it.

I have only had this one for a couple of weeks but I have had several others in the past and like this one more than those. You will like it.
