I would get Handkook dynapro atm . They're got thicker side wall ,good for street, off road , snow and maybe cheaper .

I just put on a set of Michelin LTX M/S2 tires in the 265/70-17 size. They are 1.1" taller which is not a problem. These tires ride silky smooth and are very quiet. My Tacamoa rides as nice as my CTS.

If you measure the accuracy of your speedometer with a navigation system, I found my Tacoma to be 3mph off. With the slightly taller tire is is now dead on.

Yeah no problem, but I would go with 265/75, 75 is a bit taller than 70 on my '08 I put on 265/75/16 on the stock rims no lift had no problems & I did some hard offroading I now have a 3" lift but I rode like that for a year or more!!!!

OP has 17" rims. 265/70R17 is the size he should stick with to avoid trimming or rubbing at stock height.

I like the look of the DuraTrac, but I drive 50 miles a day on the highway... need a little more, or actually a little less...

    thanks for the info!

Correct the OEM's are 265/65r17... it's the 17 that make the difference 75r16 is about the same as 70r17 on a 265, the MAX I think I can get in there is a 265/70r17... like Salmontaco.

    thanks all

Just another vote for this size.
I have the new BFG Rugged Terrain in this size, on 8" wide rims.
Nice riding tire, good off road if you don't need a really aggressive tire.

Member Simon's Mom has the Silent Armors and always had good things to say about them. You can PM her if you want an opinion on them but she seemed to really like them.

And also another vote for the 265/70R17. It corrects the speedo and looks nice in the wheel well.

Is it just me or does it seem strange that the speedometer is more accurate with a taller tire??

Anyone else experience that, I have not checked the speed with gps on the stock 265/65/17's

The speedo reads slow out of the factory. When checked with a GPS, it will confirm that your speed is reading slow but the odometer is dead on. Larger tires corrects the speedo but will throw off the odometer by about 3.5% I think.

Interesting! note to self, 10,000 miles on odometer is actually 10,350 miles (or so) on truck...

I'll be getting the 265/70/17.... next problem OWL or BW?

Haha, I really hope you meant 265 otherwise them be some wide freakin tires!

Personally, I went with OWL but I seem to be minority when it comes to that... You look pretty blacked out, I'd go BW.

LOL yup typo... would need some spacers I think for 365's... actually my wheels are still stock, thats a photoshop of what I may do to them... I still think the OWL would look sweet with either the black or silver wheels... I am probably going OWL, I think it also make a more sporty statement..

255/75/17 Silent Armor's here. Very happy with the tire and the speedo is now dead on.

    Yup, with 265/70/17 my speedo is very close - on GPS 60 = 60, 75 on speedo = 74.5 GPS, @3000rpm is 100 on speedo = 99 on GPS.
    Pretty close!
An interesting observation is that, as my old tires wore, the error increased very slightly. When I put on a new set, speedo and GPS were happy again!

Yeah, I think I said that backwards. The speedo reads faster than you're actually going by a few MPH. With the bigger tires, it's about dead on but the ODO gets messed up.
