I see you already have a radio but FWIW that radio is cheaper because it does not include the antenna, coax cable, or mounting hardware.
CB radio's are limited to under 4 watts of power when they leave the factory by federal law if someone told you that you bought a radio that is putting out more than 4 watts and hasn't been messed with, factory condition or peaked, then they are lying to you.
I can't help you much on pa speakers but I would guess that a cheap speaker, maybe spend a little more to get something like a all weather water proof/resistant radio, would be fine because again a stock cb isn't putting out much power.

I'm an avid radio Hobbyist and a Ham Operator and I would probably recommend a simple Cobra 29. Very reliable. Put a good quality power mike with it like an Astatic or something and you will be very happy. Like previous posts suggested, you can go with any of the wilson mag mount antennas. I have a 5000 that works really well, and they are really simple to tune. and your recieve and transmit quality will be very consistant. Some antennas will cause your signal to fade in and out as they whip around. Wilson antennas Have a base load on them that prevents that. Since you mention not being to interested in super high quality i wouldn't really suggest a Connex or Magnum or General Lee... They are much more radio than you will need and technically (if its any concern to you...) They aren't legal to use as CB radios. They are export radios, or a 10m Ham radio thats been modified to work on the 11m band.

But :http://www.strykerradios.com/sr497hp.html is NOT a CB radio, as stated on the web site:
"10-Meter Radios are intended for use by amateur radio operators only.
A license from the FCC is required."

The problem with buying a used CB is you never really know what you're getting. Alot have been worked on and sometimes by an amateur who could have hacked it up inside. Also most of the time there is no way to test it so you are just taking the word of the seller. I'm not saying not to, but buyer beware.

or the CB was improperly setup with a antenna that was not correctly tuned that had a high SWR reading blowing out the final.

What they said. Deals can be found on used electronics but I wouldn't buy a used electronic unless I knew the person and knew how it was used. They could have blown the cb by improper tuning or just screwed it up completely and are just trying to rip off a sucker. I would just spring the extra cash and buy new.

Should be fine. You may have to make a cable with a 1/8" mono plug on it to get it wired up to the radio.
