I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
^^^ 18 seems a bit thin to me. I used 14ga for mine but I think most people say that 16ga is fine.

I've been running the 18g for close to a year now...no melting issues--the mod is tricking/"bypassing" the FR relay and telling it to turn on the fogs w/parking...low-beam...high-beam...14g or 16g wire will work fine too--

Attaching to the towing tail DID NOT work for my 2009 (with a factory tow package, if that matters). My towing tail 3rd prong only got power when the headlights were on, which was useless for this mod.

I instead attached to the 3rd prong (output) of the fuel pump rely (tall brown rely). Fog lamps work whenever the engine is running now (still controlled by the dash mounted switch, of course)

I did the mod about 2 weeks ago and like everyone states it was very easy but I've noticed since doing it i get shocked every time I get out the truck, I told someone at work about it and he said the wire has no ground so it's using the vehicle as a ground which could overtime fry the trucks computer cause the radio to not work things like that, I removed the wire today and haven't got shocked since, what the heck happened

I like this mod on the 2012. Is there a way I could do this on my 08? I don't have a relay the Tail Tow place and I don't want to buy another relay. Can't I just slide a blade type end into one of the relay slots where the Tail Tow relay gones. If so, which slot?

sorry it took me so long to get back to you but i wanted to formulate a careful response.

changing to the hyper yellow fog bulbs made a HUGE difference!
first, turning off the headlights with their blinding white reflected glare is a big deal.
second, getting the light as low as possible in your line of sight is significant.
as for the color, the hyper yellow bulb provides way better lighting, reason being, the yellow light exists at a much different wave length and color temperature than white light. this results in much less reflected glare and greater contrast and depth perception.

the Philips 9003 XPS2 X-treme Power Headlight Bulbs that i installed continue to impress me. they are much brighter and whiter than the stock bulbs.

in addition, i exchanged all of my interior and exterior lights to LEDs: turn signals, running lights, top break lights and back-up lights. the interiors are red for preservation of night vision and almost no power drain when i'm in and out of the truck a lot (i do a lot of extended camping trips). the exteriors because they are brilliant, thus more visible. i changed the running lights to 1w 5k LEDs so that i have a bright white running light when i have the headlights off and the yellow fogs on.

i'll have to upload some night pictures - i looks really good :)

I'm trying to figure out if this will work as the "female blade connector" described in the original post. It seems to look the same as the picture in the original post, but it says "quick disconnect" instead of "female blade connector".

I might be over-thinking this, but I would just like to be absolutely sure if I got the right piece or not.

^^^Looks exactly like what I used. Those are "female blade connectors."

I have the female blade connector on the 18gauge wire, did you use a male spade connector on the other end of the wire?

Those are the right "female blade connectors"...strip off 1/2" inch of the insulation on the other end of 18g wire, twist the now exposed copper wire, and insert that end into the Towing Tail Relay socket as described in OP...Hope this helps...PM me if you have any other questions!!
