looking to get a new radio in my truck and going back and forth between the pioneer and the jvc...

leaning toward the pioneer AVH-P3300BT or the JVC KWAVX740

anyone have either of these, know more about these or have any useful insight as to why i should chose one over the other?

i have sirius and plan on getting the tuner
i plan on having my ipod hooked up to it and control through the unit

jvc appears to have a slightly larger screen which would help if the gf wants to watch a dvd on the road

i don't have an iphone so the pandora option doesn't make a difference to me

    thanks

Hey man I have the Pioneer in my truck and absolutely love it, the install was easy and I have always thought that Pioneer stereos sound terrific! PS i know the box says that you have to have a special adapter for the ipod/iphone but you just plug your ipod in with the ipod cable in the front USB and the stereo controls the ipod. The box makes it sound like you have to get the special cord that plugs in the back.

When I can afford it, I'm going with the Pioneer.

thanks for the help guys...decided to go against the majority tho on this one..

    went for the JVC

i do not have an iphone, so the pandora option with the pioneer didn't sell me on the pioneer, and the jvc has all the other features the pioneer has..

i do like the simpler look the jvc has that allows a larger screen than the pioneer. plus the jvc has a detachable face which will give me a sense of security when keeping my truck out in the public for a period of time

got the metra installation kit, which i like because it is textured like the oem face

also got the sirius tuner so i can run my satellite radio through the headunit

plans are to have my ipod usb cord running through the glovebox, so there won't be any wires coming out of the front

Can you use both the steering wheel controls, and XM radio? I would like to replace my stock radio with something with a larger screen, just to see more info from the XM. I dont want to lose the steering wheel controls, and I would like to be able to use the existing XM antenna ..

Sorry to bring life to this again... NYCO, how do you like the AVX740? I just ordered one with the steering wheel control module. How did you bypass the E-brake (switch or relay)? I have read mixed reviews about all of the head units I was interested in so I went on several peoples' advice and ordered the 740. I'll let you know how it is once I get it.

love it man...still have to finish up the install though with the sirius module wiring that's stuffed in my glove box as of now.

i definitely want the steering wheel module eventually..i miss that function

convo that i had on my build page on that topic..

hope that helps...pretty sure all i did was ground the ebrake wire on the unit

    Thanks!
I will post pics when I'm done. I am doing the swc mod, bypass and likely adding a focal bus20 powered sub. We'll see how it goes.
