Did a quick search but didn't find what i was looking for, pretty sure this is the best place for the topic.

I am having a grinding sound when switching into 4x4, only happens if I'm going below 35 or so and does not happen when switching back to 2 wheel drive. Sounds like the gears grind a tad when they start to engage.

Would this be due to low fluid level? I have 68k and did my 60k full maintenance at 59k.

Lifted the vehicle at 58k but sound didn't occur last winter, only started this winter.

Thinking about having it topped off/changed during my next oil change.

Any thoughts/suggestions, anyone else have this going on? Don't want it to get out of hand and have to replace the differential gears etc....

Well that sounds like an issue with the transfer case not the differential.
