I found this thread about installing a Garmin 60 holder in the Taco:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/113271-garmin-60csx-install-05-tacoma.html

Very well written and thought out.

I used the same idea to build a holder for my iPhone, using RAM part #RAM-HOL-AP9u. Ram makes holders for many devices.

The only difference in my installation is that I used a 1/4" NPT plug to fit inside of the single one inch ball (part #RAM-B-218-1U). The plug was faced on the lathe and then blind drilled and tapped. The pictures below show the plug before and after machining, the plug installed in the one inch ball part, and a poor night shot of the iPhone in the holder.

I made a few extra of these plugs. PM if you are interested. Can ship globally.
