This should be just the thing for the Lab. Mine likes to hang her head out the back center window so her butt is in between the seats and in our faces if we turn our heads that way.

Jimmy, That is pretty bad ass. Definitely looks OEM.

The DC owners will be wanting/making a setup like you have. Did you put some wood on the back edge to make the board sit more level or is there something already there that makes it that way? It looks really good.

Nope, it's just two pieces of plywood connected with hinges. There's a small hump along the lower edge of the seat back that kinda levels out the bottom. For the back, I cut slots which slide over the back wall seat anchors. I just cram an ice scraper in one to lock it all down. :D

I have the access cab and fold the seats down and use a flexible crate. Having malamutes, I really cant fit more than one dog back there with or without a crate.

If the center console didn't stick out into the back so much, I would have been able to use a larger crate/vari kennel, like I used to do in my '97.

I did my DC by just affixing some indoor/outdoor carpet to the back of the seats with self-tapping screws.

My Chessy loves my Passat wagon and hates the Yota...unless he's riding in the bed (not often). Even with the platform, the lack of him sticking his head out the side window will bum him out.

So, I'll steal ideas from these and build something. I'll post when done.

So I did some upgrading to the shelf and put a flip top lid in there so I can access the rear center console. I put some felt pads on the underside of it to keep it from scratching the console lid and to even it up with the rest of the shelf.

I also cut and stapled the rubber mat to the shelf after I painted it black. All in all, I am happy with it. When the pooch rides in there, I just throw a blanket or her bed back there for cushioning.

Walmart replacement auto carpet and a staple gun = good to go... Funny story, i was out of town with my truck at a work conference and had to give some ladies from work a ride somewhere and this lady just hopped up right up in there for the ride!!, I couldn't believe it. Pretty sure she weighed more than a dog (except maybe a Mastiff ) it held up fine.

That is pretty sick. You could even put some subs in the front there...

My work in progress. Foam padding under the rubber. Had to go with rubber has dog vomits fairly often in the car (easy clean up!). Legs are on hinges for easy flat storage in the back. Slides a bit, so need to figure out a fix for that.
