The first one that came in had been damaged during shipping, but this one came fine! :)

I hiked up over the tunnel to take this. The park was pretty much empty yesterday but one car pulled into the parking lot. Since I could see them, when they walked by the truck, I tagged the lock. They looked. Did it like three times. Does that make me evil?

This is Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. Water supply for the SF Bay Area. It was a really gray day--warmer in the photo than it was too :)

As the sun made it's way over the mountains to the left, the whole valley filled. It's a combination of smoke from a management fire and fog. During the summer, when more people camp, it looks pretty cool.

Content aware fill is a tool in Photoshop CS5 that allows you to select an object and have PS "fill" the selection using hints from the surrounding area.

It is kind of like the clone stamp but more automatic. Depending on how well you make your selection, it works pretty well.

So I meant to add to my post last night but got lazy.

Except for the HDR, all that I posted was point and shoot (Canon G10). I think if I'd put the P&S on the tripod, I would have made the HDR with it too--instead, I used a 5DmkII and a 24-105. With both cameras, I shot manual. JPG on the G10 and RAW on the 5D.

A couple of pages back, someone asked what the G1X would be useful for and granted, the focal length of the G10 is limited, but I think it points out you don't need a dSLR to make pretty pictures (although it's helpful).
