Accident Report on CarFax

X2... Not only that...somebody spent some cash to put leather in that thing as well. If she bites at 15,000 I would jump on it. I would still jump on it for 16k.. use the accident as a bargaining tool.

My Dodge Dakota was hit so hard in the front end that it should have been totaled. Never showed on car fax. My wifes CRV had 9500 in damage, never showed on carfax.

Look at the truck for what it is, if it looks like its been well taken care of and it looks like it has new tires l. If it drives nice....buy it. If possible, take to shop somehwere and check airbag light.

 

On my way to go check it out... Woke up at 5am on my day off and have cash in hand so needless to say I'm pretty serious.

She is actually the second / third owner because it was originally in her moms name. The a accident happened the first month she owned it. She stalled it and got hit in the front left fender at ~15mph. Damage was very minimal and only to the fender which was replaced. Accident info / records are in Oregon and she's gonna send them to me. I'm still gonna go over it like crazy. She even gave me her drivers license info and date of birth so I could have my insurance agent look at the accident report and claim amount.

Im feeling real confident at this point.

As for the airbag light I looked at the thread on here (spiral cable I think) I'm gonna knock $500 off for it cuz that's what it would cost at the dealer.

Bought the truck!

My mom, gf, and I left San Luis Obispo (CA) at 6 and made it to Petaluma (just north of SF) by 10. The girl was super nice and a cutie to boot. Truck is immaculate! Everything I wanted and more.

She was asking $16,250 and I ended up paying $16,000. She wasn't willing to budge and her dad was kinda playing hardball. I can't blame them. It was worth every penny and they had tons of calls and three others lined up to look at it.

Sent my mom home in the gf's car now her and I are spending a night in sf and celebrating.

Good to know there's another 4x4, off-road, access, manual in town. Not surprised you had to drive to go get it. Mine came from Santa Barbara. Lots of prerunner autos running around here. Surprising because so many people here like to run up to the mountains to snowboard.

 

I know I'm coming to the party late but grats OP!! Sounds like you got a good deal on a decent truck! I know when I was looking at used ones, all the 05-06's were in the HIGH teens. And all of those had 100k+ miles. That was last summer.

I also want to say I no longer trust carfax. It just doesnt seem accurate enough. When I bought my first car, it was clean as a whistle. 2 years after that I had a dealer look it over for trade value (I was looking at an old toyota pickup!) and they showed me their carfax which stated the car had an accident by the first owner a couple years before I bought it. WTF carfax. Plus there just doesnt seem to be enough information provided to get a whole picture. I think carfax is just coasting on their marketing nowadays instead of providing any kind of valuable resource. If I were to buy used again, I'd hire a mechanic/bodywork guy to come out and inspect it on the spot.

 

call the local DMV for where the truck was in an accident,they should give u the police report. call the police deptand inquire

 

It probably had a small hit or something but at least you know about it. My last car I had was hit 3 different times and never reported and when I sold it ,it showed that it has never been in an accident in the car fax report.

 

They will give you that even though he wasn't involved? With everyone's information on the report? No questions asked?

When I witnessed someone hit and run my dog who wiggled off of her leash and ran across the street, DMV would not give me his info unless I gave them mine so they can tell him that I inquired due to accusation of hit and run.
