Aprilia Shiver. Google the bike, the front end is not nearly as flattering in my opinion.

    Well guys found a F4i 2001 with 7k miles....

For..... 2800 got him to 2500 going tomorrow!

He's in the military and it was his starter bike.

So I'm going to go check it out if it passes the test I'm going to buy it.

I will learn to like the exhaust for 2500$!!!

Maybe I can fab something up to make it run under like the RR?

Eh if not 2500$ can't beat it!!!

    2006 CBR1000RR-Silver with grey striping/stock bodywork
just checked odometer, 6940 miles...about 400 on racetrack and not on the limiter.

Yoshimura RS-5 stainless slip-on, Vortex rearsets, GPR steering damper, Ohlins fork springs (.95 IIRC), Ohlins rear shock (HO-604, sprung for 185-200lb rider), 1 brand new set of Michelin Pilot Powers in the basement waiting for spring, also have the rear Honda factory cowl that replaces the rear seat, and passenger seat of course.

Would like to get $6000 out of it, have all the stock parts so you could sell the rear shock for about $400-500 easily and probably the rearsets if you wanted.

Almost forgot, I put Heli-Bars on it last year to raise them up and make it slightly more upright and comfortable, stock clip-ons in the garage also. The bike also has the usual fender eliminator, integrated rear tail-lights and flush mount turn signals too.

Sounds like a steal at that price as long as it had 4-5 owners or something weird like that...

If you can swing $4,000, I'd go for the RR. 6 years newer, low miles and it's what you really want.

It's not bad. Look into the maintenance requirements for the RR, assuming they're not ridiculous like a Ducati and require a very expensive tune up at 15k miles, that's not many miles for a bike as long as it's not completely beat on. I used to have an old 1990 Honda CBR F1 with over 30k miles and it ran like a top.

Another thing, that 2001 will start to show it's age with hoses, gaskets, etc. That's not many miles which means it's spend a lot of time just sitting around. If you all of the sudden start running it hard, it might not do well. It's a stretch and worse case scenerio type of thing but just something to consider.

Pugga great advice!! Didn't even think of that!!

The big thing I hear with the CBRs are the CCT that's about it.

Unfortunately I'm not overly familiar with the potential issues of the newer CBRs, that's why I loved that old carb-fed F1 :)

Might want to browse through a CBR forum and see what you can dig up in a hurry.

It seems like you will be happier with the RR so I would wait for that. Bike are always available and if you have a patience to wait you will get the bike you want. I would buy a newer bike with higher miles than an older bike with lower miles. Spring is coming and people will purchase new bikes and want to sell their older ones. I am getting a bike in spring if all goes well. Good Luck.
