No transmission mechanic needed. I have the tow package, rated at 6000 lbs with 350 tongue, that keeps the transmission and engine oil cool. I do drive up "Mountains", over passes, and up 6-8% grades. With the 2 1/2 in lift, allowing bigger tires, I also have almost 12 inches of ground clearance for those slightly difficult off-road ventures.
My camper is not as big as it may look, being an ultra light dry weight it is only 3300 lbs. My ATV is approximately 800 lbs. I almost always pull everything with dry weight and at the last stop before heading in to the mountains I fill up. Compensating for altitude, max 12,000 ft, I can safely pull/haul 4200 lbs. She does so at posted speeds but I will say the RPM's are a little high on the steep grades; can get up to 4000 +_ a couple hundred.

Been asked for pictures of some off-road sites here in Colorado. I've loaded a few from this summer... enjoy!!

I have racerunner coil overs shocks with Fabtec 15/650 coils, a add a leaf and Rancho 5000's for the rear suspension. I also added the Firestone bellow air bags on the rear axle. On my camper I use a equalizing hitch... I highly recommend that!!
