Had a 97 4Runner and loved it. Then had a 1/4 life crisis lasting a year with a mazdaspeed. Realized i wanted another 4x4 Toyota and needed a truck for the bed. The tacoma was the only thing i even considered

Wanted an Access Cab that was decent on gas and would fit in my garage. Tacoma was the best available that fit that criteria. Plus I had to give up my last truck in 1986 for a family friendly vehicle. That truck was a 1981 Toyota SR5 Pick-Up.

.... because I can't afford, insure, or maintain a fully loaded 1 ton. I also purchased one because it's the best looking, most reliable, most customizable mid-size.

Decent gas mileage, had owned a Toyota 4x4 extended cab pick-up for 19 years. Thought this truck would be as good as the previous one. Remains to be seen, but I doubt that it will. In hindsight, given my needs, should probably gotten an F-150.
