2012 Tacoma needs some advise

Hey guys,
As I stated in my intro thread, I'm the new owner of a 2012 Tacoma SR5. Totally in love after driving it for a week. This has been my dream truck forever and I finally own one! Anyway, as much as I love the truck, I think there's something to be gained in the wheel and tire department. I'd love to upgrade somehow but don't know where to begin. Keep the stock steel wheels and get tires, new wheels, combination of both, custom wheels or find some TRD rims etc ???.....I need some help. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

P.s. after driving my truck for 2 weeks now, all I can say is.....holy shit, what a great decision!

 

the wheels and tires are totally up to you, nobody can make up your mind for you!

but tire/wheel choice can depend on how much you offroad
do you wheel?

 

I have an 11 and changed the stock dunlops after 16,000 miles. I wanted a more aggressive AT tire.

I thought about replacing the steel wheels but kept them. Anytime I had nice wheels the always ended up scratched and sort of ratty after the winters.

 

Thanks for the replys! I was mainly just looking for some opinions on what others have done. I actually kind of like the looks of the steel wheels, but bigger tires are a must. I'll most likely go with 265/75/16 duratracs or BFG's.....one reason I was considering a wheel switch is the fact that they are in fact steel. Anyone have any rust issues? (I do live in the Northeast). My other thought was that changing to another wheel would be a pain with the TPMS and could void my warranty, which I want no part of. I'd love to hear what others have done, and really like to see some pics of some 265/75/16's on the steelies. Thanks for the info guys!
