    i was wondering about those. i'm not sure how well they work or how far they reach. those are nice because i can switch to my dad's jeep or my stepdad's truck. more versatile.

    yeah im sure they are just as good as a regular cb. what is the other kind of radio UHF or VHF. Are those better for distance and obstacles?

    UHF= Ultra High Frequency

    VHF= Very High Frequency

    i'm not sure if either is better for obstacles, because frequency is distance from crest-crest in the wavelength. it's not how high the wavelength goes.

    Hmmm I know they are used in marine applications but i think some people have them in their Tacoma. I guess they are only better for emergency a cb is great for trail riding :notsure:

    i used them in the air traffic control field and they do reach further but it doesn't help if there's a building or mountain in the way. :rolleyes: lol

    i just sent my stepdad a txt asking him if he had one laying around, he use to be into offroading alot. it also means i'll probably have one when i move down there in a few weeks. :D
