I can't find the TRD turbocharger :/ for sale that is

Well I decided a turbocharger would be less expensive than a supercharger. For the same boost amounts that is. Besides they are better for fuel economy from what I read.

Do they still make/sell the TRD turbocharger for a '98ish Tacoma? If not what should I get? Greddy?

Anyone know of an intercooler for them?

Do I have to get headers for a turbocharger or do they plug into existing exhaust systems?

How about connecting rods, crankshaft, and pistons to handle the extra HP?

 

Actually Gadget at URD used to make a turbo kit for , might have been that year model. I am pretty sure it was for the 5vz V6.

He told me that the profit margin was just to low, and they had to stop.

If you can find one, you are a lucky man.

 

Turbo kits for the 22RET are still sold by a few companies. LC Engineering being one of them.

 

Whatever you do, stay away from the STS (STD) kit!

As for the STS kit. I have heard nothing good. Whether that be the one that I used to have, or the sotries from other people's STS kits. That includes other Toyota Tacomas and other manufacturers' vehicles alike.

If you want, I can give a list of problems that will be encountered when one is installed.

Side note, a rear mount turbo setup can be made very well. I have seen plenty of those. They perform exceptionally well. STS' however fall short.

 

Yes sir. It is a little known fact from URD. Gadget can fill you in. He as well has worked on many vehicles with STS kits. He also is very UN-fond of STS. Lol! He has worked on the tuning aspect of those, when people have come to him.
