CB antenna question and input

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade my antenna a bit. Currently, I'm running a 3 ft ngp firestik on the drivers side of my toolbox. My swr readings are about 1.8 on channels 1 and 40, but down to about 1.1 on 20.

Now on to the advice I'm soliciting. I know the best place to put my antenna is in the middle of the roof, however I will not drill holes anywhere in my brand new truck. I also dont want the magnet scuffs of a lil wil. I was wondering if I'd see better performance by using a Wilson 1000 roof mount by installing it in the center of my toolbox with the center loaded 36" replacement antenna. Or if relocating my firestik to the center of the toolbox in the same manner may also boost performance a little.

Thoughts on the best option of those 3 (where it is now, relocating the current equipment to the middle, or the Wilson in the middle)? Or do you guys think there will be minimal to no difference?

Ive searched the thread ad naseum and have never seen anyone try any of the latter two approaches. Thanks in advance for your input.

 

I run a whip on the driver side of my toolbox and my swrs are good. If you want to get the swrs down you might want to look at a differnt length coax and make double sure that your toolbox is grounded.

 

The Wilson 1000 is far superior to your NGP Firestik even with the center load whip. I'm not sure of the performance you'll get mounting it on your tool box though.
