to get anywhere I have to drive on the highway going 70-90MPH the whole way. is there anyway to convert to a 6 speed 4 cylinder? or would changing to the 4.56 gears help with the highway driving?

also i have 33" tires on the truck

you could convert to a six speed but it would be a lot of time and money to do so. not sure what your stock gears are but 4.56's while numarically higher are actually a lower gearset then what comes stock in any current toyota model and cause you to rev higher on the highway but would be better for offroading.

the 6 speed has a similar overdrive ratio as the 5 speed. you would see no difference between the two.

I do just fine with my 3RZ and Auto. Sure I'm not blowing the doors off the people I pass, but man that little 4 banger suprises me every time I merge onto the interstate in the morning. My 60 to 90 is pretty impressive considering I have a whopping 160 Horsepower.

That's with 4.10 gearing and 31's. I'm rebuilding a new Toyota 8" with 4.56 and a locker. Also probably going up to 32's... But I'm also moving to a more hilly area soon and won't be doing as much highway driving.

What do you mean by "help with highway driving"? Are you looking for acceleration or fuel economy?

^ 85-90 mph is the normal highway speed around here when traffic is light.

I can maintain 80-85 just fine and usually don't even have to downshift. Also I'm running 33s with no performance mods or regear.
