I NEVER give to homeless. I've been homeless when I was a kid because my mother was an addict, so I know how it feels. But people should be accountable for their actions.

I especially hate it when I see someone claiming to be a veteran. If a veteran is disabled he gets help and money from the VA, they also have housing for homeless as well. So if a person claims to be a homeless veteran, something aint right.

at the walmart next to my house, i was sitting at the red light waiting, i see this f-150, maybe like a 02-03 model park in the parking lot next to the light, big lady comes out, walks straight infront of my truck and pulls out a cardboard sign saying "homeless, no job, no food, and no tranportation" and looks at me and points to her sign.......... REALLY!!!!!!!????? i turned my PA on cuz she was on the opposite corner and said, "why dont you get back in your TRUCK that i SAW YOU get out of and go home, SCAMMER" ........... she looked at me then her truck and looked at the car behind me and pointed to her sign again, so i went

I've given homeless people left over food before. I'll never give them money.

I have a very effective way of dealing with questionable characters claiming to collect for charities. I merely say I work for the IRS (which I don't, of course) and would like to see their non-profit federal tax ID/EIN number. You would simply not believe how fast they clear out after a quick excuse for not having that. Quite strangely, none of them have ever requested my credentials.

If a bum has a good enough story i give him some quarters or a couple of dollars, but it has to be a really good story. Doesn't really matter if it's B.S. as long as it's original.

I have seen them with cell phone in one hand and sign in the other. I don't even look at them. My feeling is the really homeless do not spend their time on street corners begging. Some cities require them to have a license to beg. That is nuts.

Can't stand anyone who begs. If I can work as a 100% disabled vet, you can too, so get off your lazy ass and work! If you can stand on a street corner in the Texas heat all day begging, you can do something else more productive for society.

The ones I come into contact with at street corners are a nuisance and I feel sorry for them... not sorry in the way that I pity them, but sorry that they are wasting their lives and playing on people's perceived guilt. I never give them a damn thing as they are career con artists. I always want to scream at the idiots who hand over their hard-earned money to them. They would go away if everyone just stopped. Why our city has not cracked down on this is beyond me, and it's a wonder a few of them haven't been killed at these intersections.

We also have a problem with these idiot parents that put their kids out on a street corner in their athletic or cheer-leading outfits asking for donations to "send us to State," or "send us to Hawaii for nationals," or some bull-crap like that. Any parent that puts their kid out to beg at an intersection and risk them being injured because their too damn cheap to spend their own cash supporting their kids' extra-curricular activities are worthless. Anyone else seen this? Pisses me off.

I'm a little paranoid by nature probably because of the stories that 2 of my uncles, 3 cousins, 2 2nd cousins, and 1 SCHP that is a friend of the family that are either active or retire LEO's have told me about their patrols. Most were or are in the same precinct that Tigerfan is so when he talks about how crazy it can be at time's I believe him without a shadow of doubt. I just don't trust people I don't know. That and previous experiences with people just trying to get drug money.

This is true, their are a lot of homeless that live on the beach here and they never go hungry, but Hawaii is starting to crack down a little more on beach squatters, but they can still fish there just not live there

Several years ago me and a friend went to Atlanta for the Supercross. Got there early to get parking and walk up to the CNN center to eat before heading to the Dome. While walking got hit up by a "homeless" man. This was in Feb. but it was unusually warm that day, like in the 70's or 80's. This man that approached us started talking about "the man" and racing in general and asked if we could spare some $. My friend is a talker and such a friendly type that he'll talk to anyone he meets. Well this guy was wearing a long overcoat which scarred me. I wanted to give him some money just to get rid of him, but with the coat he was wearing I was afraid if I pulled out my wallet he'd pull a gun or something. I had to practically drag my friend away saying (which was partially true) we had to go because we were meeting some friends at the CNN center. Anyway the point being that my friend being too nice could have been subject to this.

is it paranoia, or is it street smarts?... the problem is most people are oblivious to the fact that predators really do exist, and they will use deception to make you their victim... they don't have to be very close to assault you w/ an element of surprise... unfortunately many don't have this epiphany until they come under assault.. so, better to be prepared because it ain't all white pickett fences out there - keep that head on a swivel, and trust your gut instincts ;)

yep, unfortunately many have been raised to be "polite", to give the "benefit of the doubt" to others, because acting on your "instincts" is politically incorrect, right?... this kind of utopian B.S. get's innocent people assaulted/raped/killed/etc.. there's good people, and there's "thugs" - always trust your instincts ;)
