The first one is Ron playing piano in the lobby of Mayo Clinic for his family and onlookers. This was just a week and a half ago.

It may take awhile for the grief to come. It may come at odd moments. Out of the blue, unexpected. It may happen, and probably will, for years, and missing him will never go away. But the tears will help, and the memories will be lighter eventually. And you will see him again one day, and that will be a beautiful day. He is a good man, and he would not want you to hurt more than you need to in order to heal. He left a tremendous legacy to share with those grandchildren, especially Cain, and through you, they will love him as much as you do even without having memories of him of their own. You have learned much from him, and sharing what you have learned with others keeps him alive forever. My prayers are with you all.

    Thank you everyone!
Two of his sons and three of his buddies and I are going to his favorite hunting spot and and blast some pigeons and Eurasian doves in his honor tomorrow. I'll be using the shotgun he gave me when he first taught me to hunt...He'd like that.

You got me good on this one Matt, can't see the screen now for the....uhhh.........fog.

Those heirlooms are indeed super special, my FIL did the exact same with me.

I even have my Grandpas old Trap gun which was passed down. Finally got the strength together last year to shoot some sporting clays with it. I could feel my grandpa there with me, and you too will feel Ron standing right beside you, as if it was the day he first taught you.

Ron will like this 'shootout', and I'm sure he will be looking down with his chest out far, a big smile, and very proud. Excellent tribute to him!!

I can't wait to hear all about the 'blasting'.:) After checking times of posts, you might be out there right now..........

Well, we started off by cleaning up a million shotgun shells from trespassers... We brought flowers and put them at the entrance and some by the tree he usually hunted next to. Each of us then said some words in tribute to Ron. Then, with the various pump and over/under shot guns, we did a 18 shot salute for him in our own way. After that we started after some Eurasians and had a darn good time telling stories about him. It was sad and happy at the same time.
As we were there hunting, we noticed that there was a massive halo in the clouds surrounding the sun the whole time we were out there. It was something to see.

Thanks Will; thanks Ben. It was a fitting tribute for sure. Ron will be buried in his hunting clothes and we will be putting our 18 salute shells, duck and goose calls and a fishing lure in with him so he'll be ready for all the great hunting and fishing up in Heaven.

    Ben,
That arrangement you sent stuck out even among all the beautiful flowers there. That was Ron's style, no doubt. Christy LOVED them. Thank you so much! I was blown away at your thoughtfulness, thank you.
When Christy feels up to it, she'd like to thank you as well.:)
