Do you think we will ever have force fields or shields, like in Star Trek?

So, in your lifetime, the following quotes on technology have also stood the test of time:

These quotes (or situations) all fell within half a century.

My grandmother was born with horse traffic, outhouses, and considered apples to be dessert. When it was bathtime, the water in the tub got changed after the 5th kid. You bought everything from a general store, and not everyone had phones or electricity.
In her time, she saw the invention of cars, the birth of radio broadcasts, television, color television, computers, laptops, transistors, microchips, space flight, the birth of McDonalds and supermarkets, breaking the sound barrier, turbine engines, rocket engines, subsonic flight, subsonic land speed, submarines, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, the internet, cell phones....

In my lifetime, the hard drive I had starting out in college has shrunk to something I stick in my pocket and costs little enough that it sometimes goes through the wash... and I'm not old enough to have a midlife crisis yet.

Travel to other planets seems ridiculous right now, and something I don't see us doing quickly. However, NOT trying seems even more ridiculous. I expect many wondrous inventions in my lifetime at an alarming rate

Man, you just don't seem to be getting the point. We're not just talking about the natural evolution of existing science or technology, or even new inventions based on that. Instead, we're talking about massive jumps in both science and technology, into realms closer to pure fantasy, with a staggering cost and little benefit within our lifetimes.

thought jesus was supposed to return like a thief in the night, no one knows when he is returning, and those who claim to know are damned. Pope is a joke. Pope's self righteous, arrogant, pridefull...Everything God hates.

That's what they say (through certain bible contexts and "found" scriptures). But to be completely honest, I have a hard time believing in all of that. What I stated above was just what was drilled into my head. Everybody has their own take and beliefs on what "end times" are supposed to be. The rapture scares we had last year were a joke to me.
