My forks/axles are 8mm. Rockymounts only makes 9mm. What do you guys suggest? I want it to mount to the bed rails like the rockymounts but be 8mm.

As I posted earlier, I generally use a Thule InstaGator when carrying 2 bikes. These racks have worked really well for me all season with no issues. When there are more than two bikes I use the Dakine pad. Here are some pics. For those interested there are 2 V-10s, Legend, Demo 7, and a Nelson1.

I like that I can lock this one with a key, for when I want to ride after work, don't have to worry about my bike all day.

    None so far.
I, too, am interested in a solution for this. Can someone give any insight on how you secure your front wheel in the bed rather than placing it in the cab?

    ...

I recently just ordered the Thule 822XT Bed-Rider Fork Mount Carrier + 595 Front Wheel Carrier

RM Clutch SD Mounts are getting rave reviews, and I am almost considering sending back my Thule system...the only deal breaker is no viable way to secure the front wheel going with the RMs.

[IMG]Kind of hard to see but its a Thule hitch receiver mount rack. 4 bikes max. Fully lockable. Got it for $40 on Kijiji.

Not much on the 07 yet. 18 is gone, but was a greata truck. TRD Pro grill, Gator FX3, Homelink mirror, Black out badges & exhaust tip, Remote start. Future TRD exhaust, skid plate.
I modified the cross bars to hold 3 bike holders I already had.
works pretty good, and I don't have to remove the front wheels, which I like.
It works good with 2 bikes, I think for 3 it needs extra support for the cross bars.

There is a D-ring in the back of your bed. There are cable locks to run thru the back wheel, frame and loop thru your front wheel. Locked up front, locked up out back. Bike will go nowhere. Viable is everywhere. :D

This is what I do. I lean my front wheel next to my bike wheel, run a cable lock through both wheels and the D-ring...secured.

I also have the Rocky Mount Clutch SDs, and I like them except for one thing, looking for advice. After I remove my bike, I have been tightening up the handle so it doesn't rattle, but it takes like 30 turns until they get tight, and I have to undo it when I want to mount my bike. Do most of you just let the handle rattle, or I was trying to think of something I could put on the mount in place of the bike fork and then tighten. It would only need to be about 3/4 inch long. Any ideas?

I want a setup like this, but want to somehow leave my tonneau functional. I don't think it's going to happen though unless I decide to drill holes in the bed outside the cover to bolt mounts to.

Yeah, unscrew the skewers and put them in your center console.

    Im getting there......
Hey you guys I sometimes use the same set up in my truck and what i did for the front wheel is go to home depot and get some nuts and bolts and a screen door henge then I mounted one half of the screen door henge to the bent metal portion of a yakima wheelfork. Then I used some extra clutch sd hardware to attach the other half of the henge to the bed rails. If you open the henge to 270 degree when attaching with the pivot on the bottom (inside of bed rather than above bed rail) the spring will pull the fork against the front of the bed when not in use and then you can just pull it up and mount a wheel when you need it.

I sometimes tighten them back up (I don't remember them taking quite that many turns, depends on width of your fork I guess). I think I sometimes leave them too though. I have a tonneau cover so I probably don't notice the rattle as much.

Because I have a tonneau cover, I used my hitch mount if I'm just taking my bike to ride immediately, but if I'm going after work, I roll up the tonneau and use my fork mount because of the locking ability.

8mm fork mounts for road bikes and such are not made by rock mounts or another brand.....however I have several road bikes with 8mm qr dropouts and they fit just fine on 9mm mounts.....when you put it on the mount there is a slight amount of pressure to get the skewer of the mount through the slightly narrower lip of the dropouts but doing so won't damage the bike.

Dont let them rattle they will fall off in two halves and you will lose your expensive skewer.....I usually just tighten them but alternatively you could get a 15mil or 20 mil adapter it will be more expensive than say washers but also serves a duel purpose

This might be too much to ask but do you have pictures of your setup?
