Is Oil leaking onto exhaust from valve cap really that bad?

    I have an oil leak from what appears to be my valve cover gasket, only problem i have is the smell it gives off, it doesnt change my oil levels

    Wife's '88 Mercury Tracer (Mazda 323) burned to the ground because of a leaking valve cover gasket.

    Damn i didnt think it was that bad cause its not even that much coming out. Gotta fix it

    Id just like to add that ive never had a leak until i started using mobil 1
