    Hy,
I have a Tacoma 2008 with non jbl head unit and jbl speakers. I upgrade the speakers like 6 month ago. now I want to install a new head unit, a Kenwood 8120 with new Kenwood speakers kfc-6982i and kfc-x172, and a Kenwood powered sub KSC-SW10.they said the Kenwood 8120 rms are 4x22W. the problem it's if I need a amp for those speakers or not. I don’t know how much it's 22w rms, if it's loud enough or not? I like a good quality of sound and twice as much I have now but I don’t know how much I have now, like 4x15W rms maybe(the factory head unit)?????

    thanks

If you really want some volume out of your speakers, you should amplify them. My amplifyer is right under the passenger seat, not visible in any seat position. The head unit amp will give you better sound, but will lack on the volume aspect.
