    There is no 1.25" setting. 5100s have four settings: 0, 0.85, 1.75 & 2.5.

Wow...these threads do run rampant around here!!!

    Let me try and explain:
if your truck is stock and does NOT have the TSB, get the 5100's and set the front to .85 to level it out.

If your truck is stock and does NOT have the TSB done, add an additional leaf in the back (AAL) and set the front to 1.75 to level it out. You'll pay around $80 for the leaf and installation is easy/moderate.

You can get the TSB done and set the front to 1.75 to level it out.

Finally, you could get the TSB and AAL while setting the front to 2.5. This will give you lift all the way around.. Cost should be around $375 for this setup - (5100's and AAL).

=There are several companies offering the AAL for trucks with or without the TSB (they are different). =5100's are NOT adjustable in the back.
=The fronts can only be installed using a spring compressor (wall mount is preferable).
=The rears are just bolted on once the rear is jacked up.
=5100's can be purchased from Down South Motorsports. Ask for the TacomaWorld discount.

I am definitely no expert but have asked enough questions around here to be able to summarize. PLEASE, correct me if I am wrong!

    No kidding!
How about the fact that there are two subgroups within the 5100 line ??
-- the adjustable fronts and non-adjustable rear 5100's
-- and the "pick your preload" 5100's, but not adjustable,

Or am I just as confused when looking at Bilsteins on Performance's website. I am searching around as the TSB happens next week and I would like to level it out.

I think I will just call D.S and let them help me out.

Downsouth will know what you need.

Bilstein's site has two sets of shocks labeled 5100s. One set is adjustable. These are the ones we usually get on this site.

The others are not adjustable and are designed for trucks that already have a lift on them. So if you had a 2.5" lift you'd get the 2.5" preload shocks.

Well, after reading the posts on this thread and understanding more about the 5100s,I did further research here and on the other popular forum's search function..
I found that most liked the ride of the 5100s and many don't.
However, the many who didn't like the ride calling it rough and some had vibrations had the settingt at 1.75 and 2.5.From what I've read,.85 seems to be a better setting for ride quality.
I don't want to add a leaf not get the TSB so the best setting for me seems to be .85.
Would that be even noticeable?I'd hate to have a stiffer ride without having the lift look.
I got to really think about this.
I would like to thank all who participated in this thread.:)
