    Yep.

I ran into a guy who owned a transmission shop for forty years. I asked him why the new transmissions don't seem to last the life of the car anymore. He told me that they never did. He said the reason people don't seem to remember that is that in the 70's the transmission would go out at 70K miles, you'd have it towed to the shop at 9AM, have it back by noon the next day at the latest, and it only cost you a couple hundred bucks. He also said that at the time he thought he was "cutting a fat hog" charging those kinds of prices. Everything now is more complicated to fix, takes longer, and costs more. So we remember that.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
It's the diffy he's having issues with. Blinker fluid wouldn't affect that.

However, he should check the Knutsen torque rod bearing on the secondary tralfen shaft. Those things have been known to get bent by the nearby Rohten joint if not adjusted every week or so.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
This is highly recommended, when I first heard about this I thought it was some sort of joke, but it is not, this is the number one mod everyone should do when they get their truck. Here are the benefits that I got by doing this:

-MPG went from 17 to 113, I only fill up every 3 months now
-got an extra inch lift from my stock suspension, looks clean
-I don't even know how this works, but my truck was 2 wheel drive before but now I am 4x4
    -and the chicks dig it

the one down side is my blinker are reversed now, I signal right to go left, but it is well worth the trade off.

Billy 5100's all around. Otherwise, the truck is OLD and STOCK.
Yep. Grandpa was right. They don't make 'em like they used to. I sold my 97 V6 5-spd for a 2nd gen about a year ago and I was impressed with the power gains, but the truck just didn't feel as solid. I was wondering how the 2nd gen Tacomas got a bigger engine and wider dimensions, but stayed almost the same curb weight...

    My parents and I have owned a 98 4runner, 90 sr5 v6 pick up, 2001 tacoma and my 2008 tacoma and a 93 camry with 400,000km+

We had next to no problems with these vehicles all at or above 200,000 my dads 90 sr5 had 394,000 and still rides amazing drove 2200 km with a full load in the box no issues only major thing replaced was a clutch at 360,000 that i blew out learning to drive when i was 16.

after driving all of these vehicles my 08 tacoma is deff the strongest. Goes off road lots and is still tight like a tiger. Only thing I have replaced that wasn't a spark plug or brakes was a wheel bearing. threw it on the hoist and did it myself part cost me 80 at cost. Didn't take that long. I find these trucks easy to work on and I am not good at mechanics at all.

Bottom line my truck is a solid and haven't had an issue with it at all. Love it and its been in a bad accident.
