replacement speakers

how do i take the grill off the factory speakers? want to upgrade the speakers. or do i have to take door panel off?

 

Short answer: You have to remove the door panels.

I've attached a copy of the Crutchfield Master Sheet that came with my stereo for your review. Depending on whether you're talking about the front or rear speakers, the answer to your question is on page 7 and/or 9.

 

There is a really nice how to thread on replacing the speakers here on tacomaworld. If I can find it I will post the link.

 

like they said, the whole door panel has to come off. its pretty easy, and fyi, your speakers are a 5x7. and unless someone is going to make you custom adapter that completely replace the factory ones, your gonna have to run 5x7's. not to say that you need to venture from them anyways. my bostons sound great! good luck!

 

Damn I want the Crutchfield master sheet for 2nd gens. Be nice to have in the electronic files.
