2007 2.7 now running rough - code P2195

Hello all,

My truck has developed a rough running condition (hesitation, surging) after letting it sit for a week. The check engine light just came on after running about 25 miles - code P2195.

I thought I may have got some bad gas since I filled it up before parking it (drove about 50 miles on the fill up before letting the truck sit).

Any thoughts? Just bad gas?

Is it possible that the air/fuel sensor is causing the o2 sensor code? I wonder if bad gas damaged this....

 

Dis-connect the battery for a few minutes and see what happens. Maybe undo the gas cap and re-install, too. I'd put some dri gas in the tank as well. Or, by the look of it you do need a new A/F sensor.

 

Reset the CEL, however only drove 20 miles to work. Picked up some dri gas and put it in. We'll see how the ride home goes. It was still hesitating but running it at higher RPMS it was not....

Don't know what's up with your truck..... good luck sorting it out. Maybe clean your MAF?

 

If it's setting a code for the A/F sensor then that's where I'd be heading. Also, look around the engine compartment for any disconnected vacuum lines or burned wiring.

 

Thanks Steve. I checked earlier and didn't see anything burnt or unhooked. Now I had the air intake off when I put the header on. It ran fine for over 200 miles. Letting it sit in my garage for 8 days makes me wonder about the gas(after refueling). As soon as I pulled out of the garage today I noticed the idle slightly surging.

Also I've never had a bad o2 sensor cause sputtering. I would have thought the CEL would have kicked on right away. We'll see if it comes back on the ride home.

Nah its a great truck. Probably a dirty sensor.

 

The light came back on last night. I noticed the truck ran somewhat smooth at cold start up - 30 degrees. So it seems the A/F sensor is causin the problem.

A trip to the dealer is in order - still under the 12/12K warranty. Hopefully they don't try to tell me the header caused the malfunction.

 

Got the A/F sensor replaced today under warranty. No questions asked about the header. It's running excellent again!

 

What did the paperwork say it would have cost out of pocket?

 

Labor - $38.09 (which breaks down as 12.70 for the diagnostic test and 25.39 to replace)

Part - $212.16
tax - $ 3.00

Total - $253.25

Seems rather cheap for the computer fee and labor. Maybe since they do not participate in the Certified Toyota Program they can only submit a certain amount under certified warranty.

 

That's seems super cheap. When I was talking to one of the...I guess techs? at the dealership he was very clear about $114.95 just to pull the code and they'd give me an estimate from there.

$25 for labor means he had it changed in like 7 minutes. I'm using your mechanic for now on.

 

Wow! $115 just to read the codes.... I have an OBDII reader that I got for $30 shipped off Amazon. I guess it has definitely paid for itself.
