is it just me or do nitto terra grapplers look like the have a really shallow tread. it doesnt seem like they are much deeper than the crappy rugged trails that came stock on my truck.

I've always run BFG M/T's and haven't run anything else.

Never had a reason to change.

i've apparently missed this thread for a very long time

ive had Interco Trxus M/Ts, Mastercraft Courser MTs, and BFG MTs

OVERALL i've been happiest with the Mastercrafts ON ROAD and Trxus M/Ts OFFROAD

The trxus are supposedly designed to be an IROK for street driven rigs...or something of that nature...HOWEVER...they flat spot if left sitting for even a short amount of time...being that I'm in law enforcement...theres many times my truck doesnt even get cranked for a week or 2 at a time...They were incredibly hard to balance...and wore down FAST...not what id call a DD offroad tire

with that said...they were INCREDIBLE offroad...they hooked up on EVERYTHING i encountered...mud...wet rocks...muddy rocks...dry rocks...sand...creek beds...EVERYTHING...i had ZERO traction issues...same on road...they gripped the road GREAT...one of the few siped offroad tires out there

The mastercrafts are good offroad...not great...but good enough for most people...and they wear GREAT on the road...no balance issues...no high levels of noise...theyre great...and cheap too...

I havent had my BFGs long enough to fully comment offroad...but on road theyve been good to me...theyre a little squirrely in the rain...but not terrible...and they seem to do great offroad but more testing will have to be done

Bottom line for tires is you have to figure out what uses you'll have for them...find out what other people in your area use...and decide from there

Most of the tires mentioned in this thread all have pros and cons...

I like the Goodyear MTRs and Cooper STTs. Both wear and perform off-road very well.

Offroad you can't beat any of the Interco tires, wear fast yes. But proven offroad ability. For my money you can't beat them. I have run nothing but Interco products for more than 20 years and rarely do I get myself buried or in a position I cannot climb out of. I put my first of Swampers on my 86 regular cab truck with a 3 inch body lift and won or placed in 19 of the 20 mud bogs I entered. I am running my first set of TRXUS now, we will see what type of mieage I get out them. My 2 cents.

3" lift, ARB barwork, 285/75x16 Silverstone MT117 Sport, 16x8 Black Dynamic Steel Wheels, Zero offset. Straight through 3" exhaust-no mufflers, Front ARB Locker, Skid Plates, SR5 Rollbar, Lightforce Spotlights and some other shit!
I love my Silverstone MT117 Sports, in 285/75x16.

They have 16.5mm of tread depth, are directional, noisy as hell on the road and each one grips like ten men with shovels on each corner.:D

they are 33.1x11.9x16 in actual size...between 60 to 80kph on the road they really howl, along with my 3" open exhuast sounds like the police helicopter is coming after you.....LOL

They are great in mud, great on rocks, even on wet bitumen they grip...just the noise may not be for everyone. and for the price, they are great.

Hands down anything By Interco-Thornbirds!!! Toyo's are too stiff...IMHO. Goodyear M/Tr's are great so far. Pro comp M/Tz are bad ass too!! Cooper STT is way better than the Toyo's, they just lack a cool looking sidewall like toyo's...BFG and Goodyear are way overpriced, but so are Interco's. You get, what you pay for IMO.

I posted up in the Tires/wheels section of some new Goodyears that just came out. They look like some contenders:
    NEW Wrangler MT-R Kevlar-

    And Wrangler DuraTrac-

As for myself, I've been running my BFG MT KMs through a lot of Mud and snow lately and I've been quite impressed. They get me everywhere I care to go, at least until I get buried to the frame anyways. Lol. Road noise has been consistently tolerable over the time I've had them on, probably about 7K now, and they dont show much wear yet. Pretty happy overall, especially for the $390+mounting/balancing I spent on them. Next I may try some of those new Goodyear MT-R Kevlar's if they get good reviews, or else probably the KM2's, Procomp Xtreme MT's, or Interco SS M-16's.

What do you guys think about the bridgestone Revos? I have read some great reviews but no first hand knowledge. Most bridgestone / firestone shops are doing 20$ off right now too and i want to get rid of the stock dunlops on my truck.

I know how you feel man, Ive got these babys sitting around that I got brand new for $89 a pop! Im really considering the cooper stt's. Or if I break down and increase my limit, I really want either the good year wrangler dura trac's, or km2's. I wish procomp made a 285 70 17 in the MT:(
