    Bumping this, im wondering the same thing. I have read that it works the same and iv read it dosnt work as it should so I dont know what to believe.

    I took the pludge and went ahead and bought it, If anything it doesnt work and il have to return it and buy the expensive one thats impossible to find, I will let you know i wont have it until sometime later next week but if you wanna wait i will Shoot you a PM with the verdict.

    this wont be that helpful but there is a difference somewhere. the manufacturers# is different on them. (200v .vs. 201v) i dont know what could possibly be different on them but according to the manufacturer there is. good luck. and fyi i never use the video cable i always just use the ipod cable that came with the phone. i thought id use it all the time buuut i dont.... good luck though!

    But without this cable you cant play movies from your ipod and you cant manage your ipod from the HU... Isnt it more convinent to be able to control your ipod or iphone from the HU instead of fumbling with the ipod?

    I've got a different model Pioneer, but, I run my music from the HU, not my iPhone, with just a "charge/data" cable. No video though.

    The difference that I've read is that the newer cable handles "high-power" USB. Not sure what the impact of that is though.
