It's time do redo the system in the taco! I've brought all new Rockford fosgate amps and all new component sets for the doors ( I'm running 2 sets 6 1/2 and 5 1/2 in each door, and a pair of 6x9's or 2 6 1/2 components in the rear. Not sure on that. But I'm stuck between 2 10" subs or 3 10"'s. I'll have all the power I need with two r300.4's and a r500.1. What do you guys think. It's all going in a 01 ext cab.

I can already tell you that you're doing it wrong and need some serious direction.

What are your goals with the system?

And what direction would you point me down?

He would point you to not doing that, and getting you to give an idea of what you are trying to do with your system.

Matt's right, I can't make accurate suggestions unless you tell us WHY you're redoing the system.

Do you want it to be really loud? Clear? Do you just want people to hear you driving down the road a mile away?

Most important question....can you still return the stuff you bought?

Clearer and a little louder. I've got one 10 alpine type r in it now and I'm wanting a little more bass. Mids and highs are ok but I've got kick panels ordered so I'm mids and highs should be ok. I was jus wondering what you guys thought of going from one sub to three.

I would consider running a single set of mids/tweets.

As to subs, more cone area is always a benefit. More power is as well. A single type R, in a good box, should be fantastic. Consider a ported box rather than different subs?

I've got a bassworx box with the type r in it. So stick with my sub I have now

Matt is right, run a single set of components up front that are kick ass instead of running two crappy sets. More is most certainly not always better when it comes to speakers. (unless we're talking about line arrays but don't get me started)

A single 10" type R in a larger ported box should damn near rattle your teeth out in a Tacoma.

This thread is reminding me of my situation. Access cab, wanted more bass.

I'm not clear on how many component speakers you're running? I think those 01 Access cabs may have had speakers in the rear as well as the front doors?

In my 12, I ended up going with 2 Image Dynamics 6.5s up front & an Image Dynamics 10" in a downfire box (behind the passenger seat). I have to say..those 3 speakers can bump pretty hard.

I'm only running one set of components now. I had kick panels but didn't use them. I'll stick with this for now and change it again in the summer
