help on Planned upgrade to 2012 DC stereo

Looking for comments on planned purchase...I would sure appreciate any opinions offered! not sure what to get for rear speakers or sub...

I wont try to change your mind on the head unit. There aren't a lot of double DIN units out there right now that are really worth what you pay, in my opinion.

Looks like your planned budget for the speakers and amp is around $450 so far?

I would just leave the rear speakers as is unless they prove to be a nuisance after the rest of the components are installed.

That being said, I can recommend Hertz High Energy component speakers for your front stage. They will certainly be superior to the Focal ones. Also, that amplifier is mediocre at best. If you're not looking for a TON of bass, you can use an amplifier like the JL XD 600/6. Bridge two channels to each component set and bridge the remaining two to a Hertz Energy 10" sub.

The result of this combination will give you a 400w front stage and 200w of bass. It's a simple setup that will satisfy almost anyone's listening habits (with proper installation, of course). This also leaves flexibility to upgrade if you deem it necessary.

Let me know if you're interested in purchasing the items I have suggested. Typically, prices on these items comes to a total of over $1,000 but I can fit your original planned budget on the speakers and amplifier.

 

The AVH4400 is a decent head unit, rock it without issue.

I too would ignore rear speakers until after you hear the rest.

I would certainly not call that amplifier mediocre, nor would those that test amplifiers independently. It does more than rated power, low noise, and has a small footprint. (yes, I had 2. And I now have JL XD's, due to my needs)

I am not a big Focal fan, but Hertz stuff is not mind blowing either. I like the tweets a little better on the Hertz, but neither really top any lists, for my preferences.

If you prefer one to another, go with those.
