I will bring the clutch/flywheel assembly to my local clutch shop and they will machine the flywheel, reline the new clutch, balance the assembly and supply a new pilot and throwout bearing. Unless the flywheel is glass smooth, a facing operation, either on a lathe, mill or surface grinder is the way to go...

One of my clutch vendors that does BMW motorcycle work for the airhead community will based the clutch lining thickness on the amount removed from the flywheel to keep the assembly in tolerance. This is NOT the time or place to get cheap.

I wanted to offer my first hand experience. It took 4 hours to get trans on the floor 2 skilled wrenches. I'd say if The stealer only wants a couple hundred dollars let him do the job. It is a first class ass kicker. explanation.
BOLTS NOT BEEN LOOSENED IN 16 YEARS THEY WERE MORE THAN TIGHT.
I had a jack under engine a transmission jack & a floor jack to support the transfer case, this is the longest transmission I've ever removed, no wonder these trucks last forever.

My disc was beginning to crumble, I bought a very nice clutch kit on ebay for about $50.00 +/- It is a little higher quality than the Toyota unit, included, ball bearing pilot bearing, nice quality throwout bearing.

And for those curious, I used the grease packed behind pilot bearing to pop it out it worked very well you can "you tube" this I'm to poor to purchase a blind bearing removal tool, It is some thing like how to remove a pilot bearing with your wife's tools. I'll finish it up tomorrow. I pulled trans out in the light so I could clean inside of bell and install new T/O bearing. I'll drain oil in both units & replace B-4 reinstalling in AM

grease method worked excellent but find a bolt that is same size as pilot bearing hole so grease doesn't slip past bolt.

Finished that clutch job yesterday an azz kicker of a job. If you have removed your trans . You might have noticed the two alignment dowels on back of engine block to properly align
transmission are an interference fit . the trans does not come back from engine with out prying it back. and on the other way it doesn't go in either. I'd say drill holes out just slightly so dowel readily fits into hole. I got trans lined up put into gear so I got twist out put shaft to align the input shaft with clutch disc then trans slide in to with in 1/4" of seating I pushed had both feet on back of trans pushing finally had to get the last 1/8" with bolts as I knew I had nose of input shaft into pilot bearing now dowels holding back
so there works so sweet, I love it. I hope this clutch lasts 170,000 miles. For some reason some air
got into slave cylinder so had to bleed it out a real pinta.
