I went with the Firestik NGP (no ground plane) antenna cause it sounded easier / less hassle than grounding the antenna myself since my 2nd gen bed is plastic. you might not have that issue? I hear good things about Wilson antennas like the magnetic ones you slap on the roof. I think we have someone bringing an SWR meter and Tacokid09 has the co-ax to run between the radio and swr

Ok. I was thinking Id just slap that antenna on my roof and use the Midland CB, and possibly get this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UL0WH8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

For fun. Sound like a good combo?

haha that one looks huge but pretty much same price for the one I bought and it's more watts.... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UL31G2/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details

mine is 25W and it's pretty loud I'd say...the midland PA output is only 8W so that's the limiting factor.

check the dimensions on the one I linked vs. that one...mine attached nicely inside my hood...dunno if the one you're looking at will mount easily under your hood.

I also had to buy a 3.5mm adapter at radio shack and solder onto the wire from my PA...it only has speaker wire coming out. maybe the one you linked has that connection already and make it easier

NOTE: this pic above is actually wrong...they gave me a stereo plug and I needed a mono output so I had to switch the bottom wire to the other pole

I wouldn't get that one...read the 3-star reviews...they say it's not loud enough really. It's 12W output so a lot less. It's also made of plastic. and it costs more :( The one I linked is metal and has a decently heavy magnet.

to mount it I used an existing 10mm bolt from the hood latch cover (I took this off for my behind-grille light bar) and screwed the PA speaker into an existing tapped hole above the passenger wheel well under the hood. i can get a pic for ya tmrw if u want

at first it was a pain cause I had no idea what I was doing, had to ask for some help on here...

if I had to do it again it'd be a lot easier. I'm pretty sure radio shack sells mono 3.5mm jacks so there would only be two poles to connect. I used regular speaker wire I had left over from my home entertainment speakers and an old cheapy solder iron. if you order that stuff we can probably wire it at pismo... I don't think my solder iron is more than the 400W plug in the bed. let me know if u wanna do it there I'll bring my stuff. the 3.5mm plug is $4-5 at the shack.

Oh, just thought about it...running that jack like they have it will make a monster hole in the firewall grommet vs. using wire coat hanger. Unless you cut it and crimp it back together lol
