That really surprises me that they admitted it. Glad to hear it though. So was it the lift or the garage door?

It ended up being the garage door. The Door stop that was "supposed" to hold it up wasnt locked in place and as they were pulling the truck into the shop the door fell and BAM goes the damage. I am really glad that they fessed up though because it is an expensive repair.

You are very lucky. I had something similar happen to my car but I was there and witnessed it. I was told by the tech to go to the body shop and come back with the estimates. When I got back, the guy denied me even being in the shop! He said "Boss, I've never seen this woman before in my life." And the owner yelled at me and chased me out. I didn't have any paper work because the guy was going to put the car on the lift so I can get an estimate, and of course, we never even got that far.

Long story short, I took the owner of the shop to court, he didn't show up and the court system had him pay for damages on a forfeit.

Wow. Im glad this process wasnt that complicated. They were very reasonable and good about it. I am stoked that we dont have to take them to court.

glad it gotten taken care of, usually things arent this simple, i for one woulda probably tape/video recorded the conversation the day you went to confront it, so after admitting it'd be on tape or something of the sort, who knows how many times i've been stepped on, good for you!

It's interesting that this happened before they actually started working on your truck and that nobody in the shop called you or their boss immediately, but some people are like that -- "If I don't tell anyone it didn't happen."

I was thinking too about that roof rack that Blueberry built and what would happen to the garage door if one fell on that thing.

I can understand falling doors though -- we had an unbalanced one on a chain in the boat bay at the college that was only held up by pin through the chain -- put that pin through the wrong side of the chain and the door would come crashing down.

Aren't you wondering why they didn't own up to damaging your truck in the first place? Not only did the guy that did the damage know about it, other guys in the shop knew about it as well and they were all hoping that you wouldn't notice....shady and unprofessional ethics if you ask me.

didn't read many of the replys but I bet it was a 2 post lift with a bar across the top and they ran it too far up.

    Hope everything works out.

In my case, (I went back angry after the boss chased me out and confronted him) the guy said to me "Do you think I want to lose my job over YOU?"

You don't want to hear what happened after that.....

    Anyway ~

The boss had two shops, and he splits his days half and half at both, which is why the boss wasn't there all of the time it happened. The damage to my car was on the bottom sides below the doors. He didn't line the supports at the jack points and when he raised the lift, it was lifting under the doors and not on the frame. Under both doors folded under.

I was my sister's car and I was in the process of buying it, brought it there to check out what the leak was in the tranny. I was forced to buy the car because I didn't want her to see the damage.
