I will be updating this thread as time progresses to point out how these tires are doing. When looking to replace the crap tires that are the Rugged Trails only two choices came up, either the BFG AT or the Revos. These two tires have the Taco forums cornered. Unfortunately, I saw the BFG AT's as too expensive and too much for me to be honest. The Revos were my choice, but they were nowhere to be found. I had to look elsewhere and fell on what at first glance is a great tire...
I researched the forums and the only real bad thing anyone could say about them is that they were hard to balance. (so are the Revos though) The thread design is rugged and aggressive but not as aggresive as the BFG's. On the drive home last night they felt well planted with similar road noise to the OEMs. I took a huge detour on the way home and took them on the loopy up and down highway that made the 5 mile trip into a 20 mile trip, but hey, I wanted to taste the highway. The balance was dead on, on the first try. No vibrations up to 80mph.

This morning, my wishes came true and it was raining. I got to test them in the rain, and again took the long way to the train station. To leave my community there is only one exit, and that exit is sloped and slippery when wet. On every single ocassion I tackled that same intersection with the OEM's I had some tire spin. Guess what, took off without issue. The whole trip was as if the road was dry. Exactly what u would expect from a set of tires dignified to carry my truck. I will be taking a long trip next weekend and will surely see some dirt and probably old ice.

Like I said, I will continue updating this thread as time progresses.

Congrats on the new tires, I'm pulling the trigger on mine as soon as I get my wheels, I want either the Revo's or the S/A's. What did you pay for the S/A's.

    Thanks,

Nice Review! I have mine on since Oct 07 when I had Toyota mount them with the rear TSB. Got approximately 4k on them now and getting ready to have them rotated. Absolutely no problems to report with balancing. They feel solid while towing to the trails for snowmobiling. This winter I've driven in ice, slush, a couple of good heavy storms, the gamut of conditions, without complaints. Not bad for an AT tire (nothing beats a studded snow tire imo). But...I wasn't gonna go the two sets of tire route with this truck (tpms). RMD0311 hit the nail on the head with either BFG or Revos being the tire of choice in the forums, but I have not regretted my purchase of the Wrangler S As.

I hate to be the "me too" guy, but I had the same great experience with the Silent Armors.

I replaced the stock tires after 10k miles because their stellar performance. The Silent Armors were a night-and-day difference. They worked great for me on dry pavement, in loose sand, and in all kinds of snow. Treadwear was even and predictable, and the tires never went out-of-round in the 40k miles I used them.

I drive hard and tend to wear out tires pretty fast. These things held up nicely.

like i had said in my previous threads about the silent armors....truly awesome tires. i just had basically a bad set that wouldnt balance, so i swapped out for the revos.

but also like i said before....i would recommend the wrangler silent armors to anyone, awesome tire for everything, great in the rain too.

hope you get many great miles outta your silewnt armors man.....im sure you will.

I paid 160 a tire for a total of $640 + tax. They gave me a great deal I think... I bought them in the OEM size 265/70/16.

    Here are some pics:

Is that a 60,000 mile tire?.....Also, do you think they are louder or quieter than the stock tires?

    Thanks!

It's a 50k tire... I find the noise to be about the same as stock.

That's a great price! The Goodyear shop down the street from me was asking almost 200 a tire, I actually found them a little cheaper at a non- Goodyear shop ?

Drove them in a coating of snow today. Maybe 1inch then covered with sleet. No need for 4wd. The Silent Armors acted like champs.

I have a circular driveway and drove the Rugged Trails in these same situation twice before replacing them. On my drive they ABS went off three times withe the RT, NONE with the SilentArmors.

The tires did not slip once. I even took some back streets that had not been cleaned at all and they performed perfect on 4x2. As any descent AT tire should. I can't wait for some real snow and I can't wait for the Summer and some Off Roading.

Sears yesterday told me $815 installed.

I like those, but I also like the Firestone Destination AT. It's a 50,000 tire & affordable. Tirerack rates them VERY high.

I read good things about both the Firestone Destination AT and the Goodyear Silent Armors on Tiretrack.

Never heard of the Tiretrack website till now. Very good review and buyer/user reviews too.

    Thanks for the info.

The price diff for me between these two was $10... SO I just went with the GoodYear. They seem like a great tire though, with great reviews.

I just got a price from a local Firestone for the Destination AT's and they're $114 each tire, then the valve, mount, balance. Etc.

Anyone want a set of my factory tires that have less than 200 miles and all whiskers on them for $150? No kidding. I'll use this to finance the Firestones. Can't get a equivalent new tire for $37.50 anywhere in the world.

    I live near Lakewood, CA.

It's been almost a year with these tires and they are wearing very well. The performance in the wet and snow are both excellent. The road noise has not gone up with wear and I'm still completely happy with the tire. Might replace with the same thing when the time comes.

Thanks for the update! The timing is ironic since I picked up a new tow rig over the weekend and it's in the shop at this very moment having a set of Silent Armors installed. I was pretty psyched when I saw that they're available with an E load rating!

I was looking at the Revo too, but tire rack has these tires called General AT2
I had general when i had my altima, they were nice. so I might give them a try when my BFG rugged trail dies, They are only like $116 a tire :)
