Plenty of people still use them. It's not like a trucker is going to call the guy in front of him about traffic issues. Also very nessasary to have a CB offraod. Most wheeling clubs require you have one. I myself am a hobbyist. We have a group of about 6 guys in the area in the "crew". I also have a base station in the man cave for late BS sessions. It's a fun hobby and keeps me out of trouble.:D

i havnt used an actual CB radio on a trail run in almost 2 years now. all of the major 4x4 clubs i wheel with..plus race teams all use race/2meter radios. nobody in the SoCal area uses the out dated CB radios anymore....

but still..i have the Cobra 29LTD on both my taco and in my rockcrawler, both are hooked up to the lil wilson mag mount antenna.

EDIT: most truckers are using SSB or imported radios modified to to be used on the CB frequencies

i forgot to post specs, its a cobra 19 ultra III cb, pioneer deh4400hd radio, firestik II 2' antenna, and scosche ta2052 dash kit, (some other brands do not have a large enough pocket)

i haven't actually used the cb because i just put it in a few days ago and haven't hooked up the antenna yet

I know, but it's an electronic that needs reception so I think it qualifies :D

Upgraded to a Wilson 1000 today. Huge difference over the little Wil I had.

You can't go wrong with a 102" steel whip. As for the radio, eh, It's a bargain basement CB. I would personally spend a little more and get a Cobra 25 or 29.

What are you trying to do with the CB???

Reason I ask is space, the Cobra 75 WX ST might be a better fit...:)

I have assorted CB's BUT moving them around between vehicles becomes a pain and one of these would stop that without taking up precious interior space in tha TACO ;) ....while leaving the BIG radio in the Ridgeline...

I like the whip as well. I run a General Lee with the whip and talk a long way off. Of course there is better antennas but the whip is best if you'll be wheeling and such smacking it against limbs and other things.
